8/27 update to add map display on the TV screen, 3 free Mercedes-Benz karts: GLA, W25 Silver Arrow, 300 SL Roadster.
Records screen w/ total coins, online win-loss record, character selection rates, etc. being added. Improved online stability.
Default menu selection following GP changing to next race. Last used kart customization added to save. Edit others' highlights.

That`s pretty cool.
I still think the Mercedes' cars are out of place, yet, i can`t wait to try them out!

SO excited for the on screen map!!! That's one feature that I've sorely missed from other MK games.
Happy about the stats as well.
In the future I'm hoping for actual battle arenas and more online unlockables/cosmetic kart colors and customizations
And changing the default selection to next race is a nice change. That's one bonehead mistake I can't believe the developers made. I can't tell you how many times I've accidently hit "view video highlights" as it is currently the default selection.

Thank god for the record screen, I wanna know how many coins I have to unlock the Gold Glider. The TV map's pretty useful since I play on the Gamepad most of the time, and saving a custom kart will save a bit of time. I'll try out the Mercedes karts for fun, maybe I'll even main one.

Nintendo has announced that the online portion of Mario Kart 8 will be offline for maintenance tomorrow, August 27. The leaderboards and rankings will be impacted as Nintendo prepares an update for the game, including the arrival of the free Mercedes DLC. This new DLC includes three cars that are part of a promotional deal originally penned between Mercedes and Nintendo for release in Japan.
Here’s the various times the game will be down for those across the globe:
- USA PST – 11:30pm to 1am
- USA EST – 2:30am to 4am
- UK – 7:50am to 9am
- Europe – 8:30am to 10am
- Japan – 3:30pm to 5pm

I'm just excited for the Mercedes DLC, and scoff in the face of Ubisoft thinking it takes away the magic from a game that already has a sports coupe, a pink car with blasting subs, and a sport bike...

I think Ubisoft also believes female characters take away from games in general.
