PETITION ASKS NINTENDO TO NAME A ZELDA CHARACTER AFTER ROBIN WILLIAMS

"A recently-launched online petition is requesting that Nintendo names a non-player character (NPC) in the next The Legend of Zelda title after Robin Williams. The petition has already garnered 50,000 signatures and is asking supporters to push for a Robin character to appear in the upcoming Zelda game for Wii U. Williams, who passed away earlier this week, was deemed a long-time, avid fan of the long-running action-adventure series. He also appeared in several Nintendo promos and even named his daughter after the franchise’s titular heroine."

Hmm...honestly, I'd say this warrants a topic rather than just a post on a buried thread.

Am I the only one who thinks that name would be out of place in the zelda universe?
I don't even...

I will not die until I achieve something. Even though the ordeal is high, I never give in. Therefore, I die with no regrets~Ikaruga Prologue

Instead of naming a character after Robin Williams, how about making a character based on Robin Williams? You know like Cid from Final Fantasy 8? I think that would be an even better tribute.
Of Nelson and Murdock. Avocados at law.
Attorney at day, vigilante by night.

I signed.
I can see Robin a happy sales merchant NPC and in the background of his shop you see a little homage with a certain rubbing lamp sitting there.
Just simply named Robin and has a strong resemblence

At least merge the threads or something.
But they're two different topics. :T

Frankly, if Robin Williams were still alive today, he would tell you this isn't necessary.
He already resembles a very popular Nintendo Character.

My brother is just as hairy if not more so I always teased him he and Robin should have a hair off. Brother works with many celebs as Photographer since the 80's so who knows maybe they did have a contest.

Nintendo's response to the petition:
“Robin Williams was loved at Nintendo.” offered a Nintendo spokesperson. “Our hearts go out to his entire family, and especially to Zelda Williams who we’ve worked with multiple times.”
“We appreciate the outpouring of support from the gaming community, and hear the request of fans to honor him in a future game. We will not be discussing what might be possible for future games during this difficult time, but we will hold our memories of Robin close.”

Well at least we know that they know that this pention exists. I'd say they'll add him. Don't see any reason not too
Well, I've finally found my Starfox, and I love it.

I'm betting Zelda is aware of the petition by now and would only likely happen if she and the family gave the ok to do so. However in her time of grieving I am pretty sure it's not on her list of priorities right now. I will give it a 50/50 chance.
