This is really really easy to settle.

Just look at the credits of a simple 2d platforming game:

They need to program it, sure. I'm just pretty sure that anyone could program that, and they don't need to hire an AI programmer just for that. Hell, the texture artist could probably do that.

most people who tried programing have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

for people who actually go into programing though, then this is trivial.

^ 6 people just for Mario.

Guess the AI job really doesn`t exclude a 2D game like DK.

Still, hoping for something more ambitious. Nintendo`s own Halo would be fine by me. ^_^

Halo is bland and dull. Halo 4 since it had former Retro guys work on it tried to be Metroidish at the start. Metroid Prime 3 started off Haloish. So that cycle is complete.  Nintendo has said they are in the planning stages of two Metroid games. One 2D (so likely 3ds) and one 3D. Who better than Retro for Metroid and they have new artists so have new art design and character design and Ginthers Darksiders work I want to see in metroid.

Why are people debating this?

1. Miyamoto stated in the past that Retro is the best developers for Metroid as of now

2. Nintendo confirmed on working on a 3D Metroid

3. Number 2 Happened a few months after DKCTB was finished.

4. Retro is confirmed to me making a new game

It's a 3D Metroid guys... I thought this was obvious :s

AI programmers in Mario games have the easiest jobs doe.

Code only needs to say: "go forward until you hit wall, turn, go forward until you hit wall.

Or, for a red turtle; "go forward until you hit wall or an edge, turn, go forward until you hit wall or an edge."

I could do it, after learning how to code of course. I've made better AI in Scratch.

You forgot a huge chunk of coding.

Fans often get excited when Retro Studios posts a job listing. As ambiguous as these listing are, they give us small insight to what is currently being worked behind close doors. In the past day or so – Retro Studio’s has posted an additional 4 job vacancies. What’s most interesting is that these positions almost certainly suggest that Retro are working on a Wii U game.

Take, for example, the FX Artist. As part of the requirements to be eligible for the position, the individual must be have “Next-gen shader technical expertise.” Not convinced? Here’s another clue; to be considered the role for Gameplay Engineer, prior experience working on “game-play systems for AAA video game” required. Judging from these requirements, it certainly sounds like Retro’s next game is a title that is being developed for the Wii U as oppose to the 3DS.

In addition to the aforementioned positions, Retro Studios is looking for a Graphics Engineer and a Level 3 Engineer. With the increase in positions available at Retro, it is safe to assume that the development of the game is at full swing and that more hands are needed to accommodate the activities.

Retro’s last game was the Wii U exclusive, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, released earlier this year at February. So in all likelihood, at best, Retro is still in the early stage of development and we wont get a peak until next year.

What do you think Retro Studios is working on? A fourth entry in the Metroid Prime series? Or an entirely new IP? Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Metroido/Metroidu is the japanese pronunciation of metroid.

I meant that "du" isn't a Japanese character, so it doesn't really make sense.

Heh, I see.

You are right, it actually totally doesnt make sense in Japanese, metroid isnt a real word, there is no metroid in japanese (Just guessing, as I dont really know japanese beyond recognizing a few cool symbols... but pretty confident there is no actual 'metroid'), then again, its not a real word in english either, lol.

Its not japanese, its how the japanese pronounce english sounds, katakana, phonetic sounds emulating english sounds and pronunciations, and the symbols that represent them. Nintendo seems to like english sounding words and phrases for a lot of their popular titles (Zeruda)

メトロイド

I guess thats why a lot of Nintendo games actually spell their titles out in Katakana for the japanese game covers instead of using Japanese.

Although with metroid and Metroidu, like how I was saying, I dont think its so much a purposeful sound, looking it up, I am pretty sure if the katakana is pronounced normally its just metroid. But when the the Japanese version of the movie announcer guy gets going, he adds on to everything thats supposed to be super awesome and exciting, particularly when they are doing super excited/cool/bold voices for their commercials, where they most often use metroido with (Oh)on the end of the word. Metroido for short intense bold sayings of the word, but, for the commercials where it has a long drawn out super intense metroid, it was MEEETROOOIIIDDDUUUUU!!!! shortly followed by 'EXCITE!' and then 'ACTION!!!' Usually to the backdrop of a ridiculously awesome stop motion Samus winning everything iirc.

In the case of just the English Phonetic 'du' or 'doo' (as opposed to 'doh' sound of do) sound with nothing else, that would be ダ

I will just wait for whatever it is to be revealed. They are talented developers I am sure whatever they make will be better than the average "so called" AAA experience you find in the gaming community.
