I just got an HDTV not too long ago, and I was wondering, would the Xbox 360 and PS3 HDMI cables work on the Wii U? Or will they have a different type of HDMI cables? Does anyone know?
Here is the kind of cables I'm talking about:

It should work, I think it uses the same type of cable.

I wouldn't doubt that it had HDMI capability, considering its native resolution is 1080p. However, I am largely unsure if you could use the same cable you use for your 360/PS3 on it...but we'll see. :)

i would expect the same cable to work, the hdmi cable i have for my xbox + ps3 wasnt made specifically for them, i just went to the TV shop and asked for an HDMI cable and it worked, i expect the same for wii u.

As far as i know, any thing that uses HDMI uses the same plug for both ends of the cable. Also (as far as i know) there hasn't been any update to HDMI like to USB and soon SD cards, because it handles what it needs to as is. I think it'll work, but if not you can always play with RCA cables..... or Composet..... or the new fantangled WiiU HDMI... that doesnt exist. Or just push your face into the wiiu and absorb the images through you Frensecular gland......

There's only one type of HDMI cable. The ones that you get for your PS3 and Xbox 360 just have Microsoft's or Sony's logo on them - but they are just plain and simple HDMI cables, so they'll work with anything.

On that note, gold-plated HDMI cables are worthless and do not actually improve the picture or sound quality. You'll be fine with any cable claiming to be an HDMI one. ;)

I find it funny when people who don't know better think otherwise of these two comments. Funneh!

Yeah, it's not like AV plugs that are Y/W/R at one end. and a trademark of the console on the other. HDMI is the same port on both ends.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON
