Just bought myself a Wii U for my birthday about 2 hours ago.  Got it powered up and...

 

It's stuck on the logo screen.

Pressing "Sync" on gamepad triggers no response from console.

All cords are connected correctly.

Power button is unrepsonsive; forces me to unplug the system.

 

Please help this is not what I expected.. I was so excited.

Honestly, I would pack that machine up right now, take your receipt back to the store, explain to them exactly what you told us here and exchange it for a brand new one.

Whelp that is exactly that I did.  A Best Buy employee gave me a hard time and was very rude but I got an even exchange.  When I powered it and the gamepad on it immediately had a dialogue after the logo screen before I even pressed Sync!

 

If anybody else has this issue just return it!!!
