Hello and thanks in advance for the help!!

Just bought Wii U for kids for Christmas.

My Sony HD TV is a bit old and only has 1 HDMI....it is being used already for Sony Blue Ray DVD with cable.

The BR player does have another HDMI in port.................so, can I use HDMI from the Wii U to the available HDMI on the BR player??  Anything special I need to know.  Assume quality will be good?

Should be fine, just set your sony bluray player to show input.

 

Also, you can buy a component cable for the Wii U and use that: here are some from eBay. They will give you up to 1080i, just you will problably have to go into Wii U settings to adjust the resolution.

As long as the Blu Ray has HDMI pass though then all is good.

I need one more port on my tv bit I just end up switching the cable at the tv when I wanna switch systems.

Thanks for the replies!  I will have a chance to try it out this weekend, and I will report back.  Hoping for smooth and easy install!!

Someone mentioned that I could buy the component cables....and yes, I did know that, but I am thinking that quality would be better using the HDMI...and since that is what comes with the Wii U...I won't have to buy anything else.  Am I correct thinking the quality would be better?

In theory yes, but what I've seen it's not a really noticeable improvement.  Though to be fair the only tvs I tried both connects were 1080i or 720p.

Theoretically, yes. However, it varies by TV. In general, the higher the resolution, the more noticeable the difference. So, if your TV is 1080p, HDMI should look quite a bit better. If it's only 720p or 1080i, though, the difference will still be there, just not as pronounced. But I think you'll be fine hooking it up to the Blu Ray player, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Wii remote. they're prety kid proof and you can get hook up a cheaper classic controller for games that need the Pro controller.

Keep that wrist strap secured to the wrist.
