Yep, completely playable with just wiimotes! Much better with a control stick, IMO, but the game is compatible with wiimote-only controls.

Gamepad
Pro Controller
WiiMote
And WiiMote + Nunchuck.
AND the Classic Controller!

CC and CCP are basically the same, it's just a different design (the "pro" has handles and better layout for the secondary shoulder buttons). I prefer the normal CC for SNES games and the CCP for games like Monster Hunter and Xenoblade where you use the analog sticks primarily.

long story short: if it's a controller and you can hook it up to the Wii U, it will work (except for Gamecube controllers. For now)
