Tomonobu Itagaki has been much more active and vocal on his project Devil’s Third since it was revealed at E3 to still be in development, but now a Wii U exclusive title. According to him, the best way to control the game is through using the Wii U Pro controller, rather than the GamePad itself. Itagaki doesn’t go into details about the reasoning behind this, but in several statements he released on Facebook he praised the Pro Controller as the superior means for controlling his game.

I have to say that finished Devil’s Third is almost completely different than the footage you picked up (2011 trailer). First of all, you have to aware Ivan (protagonist of DT) is perfect bald man
He is cool.

You guys should use Pro-controller for Devil’s Third.

no one says specific release date yet. thanks for your patience.

You guys should use Pro-Controller, plus…secret. Sorry

In replies to comments left on his Facebook page, you can see Itagaki repeatedly mentions the Pro Controller and that footage we’ve seen so far is very old.

Just a fun picture showing different customizations..

no option for ir pointer controls =(

Beyond that, this game still reminds me alot of TF2 so far, which is much more good then bad.  Hope the release date doesn't come to close to splatoon.

My main question about this is why on earth it's a Wii U exclusive. This would sell a hell of a lot more on Xbox.

Because originally it was for PS3 and 360. used Relic Engine but then they went out of business. THQ picked up publishing rights and was on Darksiders II engine. THQ went out of business. Nintendo like they did with Bayonetta 2 swooped in saved the game and said they would publish it. Now it's on UE3. So like Bayonetta 2 if not for Nintendo the game would not exist.

I find it funny when ever MS or Sony publish something people either cheer or don't react. When Nintendo does. "why is this not on console X or Y?"

Well that's only cos it's better suited to the Xbox. That's where the action whores live. I understand the reasoning though. Given that the game was well under way, it was an opportunity for Nintendo to get an exclusive game at a lower cost than it otherwise would've been.

given the game is more then a shooter, but an action one as well, ir pointer controls and transitioning into melee combat would be difficult. imo

Because Neither Sony nor Microsoft would touch it, because its Japanese, and is actually a game instead of a predictable rollercoaster ride.

Like Bayonetta 2, its either the game ceased to exist, or Nintendo published it, and it became a wii u exclusive.

The real reason he wants us to use a pro controller is because we will be playing for 80 hours straight.

That will depend more on what the actual controls are, or how the game handles melee weapons, More likely than not it will be mapped to buttons or button combinations, which is more than fine on the wii-mote, unless implemented poorly, the way around it is usually giving the player complete control of button remaps. Yet every game i played had disabled a button mapping option i wanted or restricted the mapping itself in some way with the exception of cod, unless they changed that in one of the newer ones.

in other words to have good wiimote controls, you need to give the user near complete control of the button map instead of presets, as well as a extensive actual IR options.

Or maybe they will put really annoying flashing pictures on the gamepad screen... (speaking of which - I can't believe you still can't turn the screen off while using the gamepad!)
