Apparently Nintendo has been in talks with them about NX at e3.

I wonder if a January direct will lead to more info or if they will wait closer to e3 or something.

I would expect e3 on stage this time with a phased out release starting 2016 holiday in some regions. Could be wrong of course.

Don't mean to sound negative but I'm pretty sure 3rd parties had a positive reaction to the wii u, until it released.

Yep, things looked very good back then. More adult rated games at launch, some of the ports being best on Wii U and constant 3rd party support was looking good.

Nintendo must realise their systems should be targeted towards an older market now. 90's and early 00's was different, gamers were mostly kids and i still don't think Nintendo have adapted to modern ways.

Humans are adults more of their life than kids right, so that should be your target audience for the most part. Get 3rd parties back, do your own thing and have a slice of the pie Sony and MS have been eating for over a decade now.

Yeah it was funny to watch how developers were getting all worked up over Wii U. But remember ps4 and xb1 launched a year after Wii U... so by the time Wii U was getting started Sony and Microsoft was sending out devkits. You dont think developers saw how much easier development and how much more power they had with those machines. Seriously how can you blame them for jumping ship plus the fact they have a bonified market whereas with Wii U they were just hoping to do well. I mean I personally never see multiplatform games selling well on Nintendo home consoles. The large majority of gamers will always prefer the playstation or xbox version. I think this would be the case even if Nintendo machine had the power to stand next to the other two. The answer for Nintendo is exclusives. Exclusives usually sell better on Nintendo home console than multiplats. So a mixture of third party games like COD, sports games, and whatever yearly franchise you want to throw in there. Add that with indies and a big selection of their games and thats the best you can hope for. I mean lets be honest Nintendo isn't going to be most gamers first choice when they look to buy a console. Most have been burned enough. So make a great console that gets some third party, badass first party, and the best of indies and sell it at a good price point and hopefully they can make a profit which in my mind is most important along with letting the industry know you belong.

Mostly because it was more powerful than the PS3/Xbox 360, and the other 8th gen consoles wasn't announced yet, so all they've got to compare the Wii U too was the 7th gen consoles, thus it had a positive reaction

Most of the major 3rd party games that came out for the Wii U was released at full price months after they already came out on other systems and was missing content such as DLC and online. Remember when ME3 for the Wii U was released on the same week that ME Trilogy came out for other systems? Then they start ****ing at Wii U owners even though they were the ones who released half-assed content at full price. Now of course, the low Wii U install base didn't help either.

According to a neogaf.com user, they started talking to devs before.

There was also a piece of news that said Nintendo was talking with devs to ask for opinions on NX, months before E3.

Almost no big game publishers are making games for adults. Most games are targeted towards 15-18 year-olds since that's where the money is, or at least has been. I think the first advertising for the Wii U, with the non-specific action hero, is the first video game advert I've seen targeted towards adults. So maybe they had an idea to start selling video games for adults, since it's an unexplored market. Don't know what happened with that.

Term adult is wrong then, I suppose I meant target towards an older audience. Even if NX games are typically Nintendo BUT the hardware is designed for the 3rd parties to keep them happy and has entertainment features like the other consoles.

That would be win win for everyone.

if nintendo can do right with the nx and have powerful hardware for competing with the ps5 and nextbox they would have "everything" killer first party, and all the 3rd parties to fill in the gaps. Nintendo has the games to be the number one console, but they always find a way to screw it up

They're going to be releasing their next system sooner than MS and Sony though so I don't see them really competing in terms of hardware.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

Sadly you are so right. N64 cartridges, Gamecube mini disk, Wii non-HD, Wii U non x86. I mean part of the problem is there philosphy of ALWAYS trying to be different. I am very worried about NX for this very reason. Looking forward to see what they decide to do.

They have to find a way to make it work even if that means losing a little on every sale of the NX just to make sure the tech is there from the start. I mean theycant mess this up. It has to be more powerful than ps4 when it launches in EVERY way from a technical standpoint.

I was very sad about that. Gamecube was such a beastly console. That literally screwed up the gamecube owners from getting GTA that generation.
