The annoying part is that now there are a bunch of trolls saying "This just proofs Nintendo won't get good third party support next gen" and other horrible comments.

They could have just ported it to the Wii U and stuck a map or something on the controller at least then we'd get to play it. Plus they're even considering doing a Mac version which release later so they're obviously willing to put in the extra work for port. Sigh.

nice post :) these excuses are getting a bit annoying, it can be a really good thing, or a really bad one. DICE used the same reason for no battlefield 3. i totally get what they're saying except they should just immediately say that they're making a tomb raider/battlefield just for wii u that uses the potential. not just say we dont want straight ports we want to take full advantage and then end up releasing nothing. so basically, i think this is a bad excuse, unless they're really gonna make a wii u game from the same franchise. what they should do is what rocksteady and the ninja gaiden devs are doing, make the same game, same name, same time, but use full potential of wii u. thats the best way, rather than make a whole different one just for wii u or nothing at all

That proves nothing but the company want to make good use of the system, but they do not believe that porting it for the system will do it

They could of at least said we would make this for Wii U but it will use Wii U's exlusive tech.

Or they could be suprising us so at E3 it is actully going to be on Wii U.

I really don't see a reason why 3rd-Party developers would ignore the Wii U with their multiplatform titles.
The reason why they avoided the Wii was because of it's hardware limitations and control scheme. The Wii U resolves those problems.

I don't understand why one game, (and Tomb Raider of all things), would instantly mean the Wii U is going to lose all 3rd party support.
The mentality of people these days...

Because there are fanboys that are mad that Nintendo is getting really good rumors about the Wii U (like how Wii U might be 2x more powerful then 720) and when one thing that is not good news about the Wii U they go all fanboyish and bash Nintendo.

Kind of sounds like they're thinking that they HAVE to put in extensive touch screen use to have it on the system, and that's kind of worrying. All developers really have to do is put the game on Wii U with awesome graphics, menu controls from the touch screen and maybe a few little gimmicks. The sticks and buttons are there for a reason, so that there's a more traditional control scheme for multiplat games. Just seems a bit annoying if they're going to ignore that when most of us would be entirely fine with a well done port.

That said, the fact that third party support from over devs is extremely positive leads me to believe this isn't really an issue. Games like Darksiders 2 and Metro Last Light will be there at launch and probably become big hits amongst us early Wii U owners, so people will start to see that you don't need a radically different control scheme to be appreciated by Nintendo fans. As long as all goes well, the third party titles will really start rolling in come 2013/2014.

i dont think anyone here believes that this one (actually 2 cos same happened with battlefield 3) example of a multiplat not coming has made anyone here think wii u is going to lose 3rd party support dw about that, but some people want the wii u to become like the 360 in that literally every single game comes to the console (except exclusives). but yh i agree totally, no need for serious concern, we just don't want to see this repeat

They don't even need to use the tablet because Nintendo confirmed that the third party's can use any controller they want so Tablet, Wiimote, Classic Controller


Oh and remeber when the PS3 was released, it did not have the best third party support because most games where coming to 360 and not the PS3.

And kinda like what you said but in a different way most consoles get much better third party support at least a year after release, a lot of developers stay back to see how the console does in it's first year, and beside Nintendo said they are fighting to make sure the Wii U (or whatever the new name might be) gets the best third party support

Well, the only reason why Battlefield 3 is not coming to the Wii U is because the Wii U would release a little more then a year after Battlefield 3 released, and they are worried it would not sell well because of the 1 difference, they did confirm though that the next BF is coming to the Wii U).

well i would totally accept that reasoning if bf was milked once a year, but its not, they will not release another for ages. and i think thats why (even though ur reason is probably the real reason) the official reason they gave was the same as the tomb raider reason. now after considering that i thought DICE might make a battlefield game with frostbite two, same/similar stages to bf3 but with very tablet based gameplay style, new online game modes, and call it battlefield bad company 3 (or something like that, i doubt it will be bad company 3) but you get my point. that way its a whole new branding so people will buy it thinking its not just a port of bf 3.

How I read the quote was they are not porting the game over. To me that doesnt necessarily mean the game isn't coming out to the Wii U, as the quote stated if they'd build a Wii U version of the game it would be built differently to the current PS3/360 build. I personally think this is just Crystal Dynamics waiting to see how well the Wii U is recieved before committing to the system.

I haven't read the article in the link, but I assume the part quoted is the main focus point.

If they make Tomb Raider for the Wii U, it will be Tomb Raider for the Wii U, not Tomb Raider for the PS360 + a random unused touchscreen.

Same as the two above me, I read it that they don't want to port the game, but perhaps make a new one instead. Lack of support for third-parties? Meh, I don't think that has anything to do with it.Think of it, a new system with new hardware and controllers come out, quite innovative.. It wouldn't do the game and console justice to make a port that lacks functionality that the console has to offer.

Not really,That game was built in mind of current gen consoles and I am glad they are not shoving a port on the wii u with just putting some hud on the touch screen.
