This pretty much sums it up for me if I think of any other reason why I love video games I'll post it.

Why do I love video games? Because video games are the greatest thing ever created. They give so much to look forward to. I love every part of a video game. Video games are like books you can play. They have so much detail and content in them. Why read a book when you can play a book. Video games have great stories built right into them. And they are full blown novel quality stories (most of the time, like LoZ OoT). That is not the only thing. Video games have wonderful music too. Sometimes the music is so good you want to cry. Why go to a concert when you could just pop in a game and have a concert right there in your room. Video games... Video games even give some people lives a purpose. Yes, you can very well have a life with just video games. Why not? Video games open so much to someone. They could give great purpose to many peoples lives. A lot of my life , not all of it, but most of it is involved in video games. I'm planning on getting a job in some form of video game development and when I get home just sit down and play a video game. That sounds like a good life to me. Or come home and play some video games with my friends. Video games are indescribable. They are just.. there just. I don't know. Companies like Nintendo have brought me much joy, memories, and a great hobby in my life. I swear I don't where I would be without video games. The are one of ,no, they are the world's greatest creation and I am proud to say I love them. Video games FTW!

Well, games have always been a hobby of mine where I could find solace. They give me a sense of accomplishment and they're where I can go when I'm feeling down in the dumps or bored. If anything they're sort of my be all end all miracle drug for all my problems. They don't fix them but they sure make them a lot more bearable.
Most of my friends that I used to have were also found through my love of gaming. Gaming is sort of what my life revolves around. I owe quite a bit to the hobby.
Heck even just reading about them and being informed of all the goings on in the gaming industry can be fun for me so yeah. Gaming it's pretty awesome.
Don't have much else to say on the subject....

Like you I play video games to "heal my wounds" so to speak. Once I play a video game I am no longer dealing with the stress of real life and video games are awesome. I was surprised to find that you guys like video games for the same reason I play video games.

It's a form of escapism to me. I like exploring fictional worlds whether it is from books, movies, video games, pictures etc.
Most importantly, it's probably the best form of digital entertainment.

Wow, this is a pretty open ended question, but I'll try. I play video games for the fun. On Mario Kart, it's thrilling to use your skills to pull off an incredible win. On Star Fox, it's fun to blast the boss out of the sky with little to no health left. It's rewarding to see the roller coaster park you make in Roller Coaster Tycoon make huge profits while making people barf like crazy. That's why I like video games.
