Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Are you kidding me? 8GB RAM would be the bare minimum acceptable - and that's still dirt cheap.8 GB of RAM would be overkill! But awesome; and pricey.
I don't think anybody is surprised they're using more than 1GB, who would even consider buying a console with that little RAM nowdays? lol

Im not sure if 8gb is the bare minimum since their is quite a few gaming pc not with that much but it is the standard amount of ram for one but plenty of pc dont have that and I mean the ps3 had around 200mb of ram I mean really 200mb of ram which I know did cause some problems for the system but really I think console would only need 2 gigs or if lucky 4 gigs. Are you kidding me? 8GB RAM would be the bare minimum acceptable - and that's still dirt cheap.

This news made my DAY ... heck my week!
Hopefully the source knows that dev kits get more ram than retail and that he actually does take into equation.
Really happy right now this was the news i was so worried!

When a computer is running a game, it is generally doing a lot more then running a game. Could be scanning for viruses, searching for WiFi, or whatever it needs to do. When a console is playing a game, it isn't generally searching for WiFi since it would all ready be connected, it doesn't have any background services it's trying to run. It is playing that game. The Wii U, in fact, will need more eDRAM and RAM for streaming to screens (especially since what you see on the TV screen is not necessarily what you will see on the controller(s)). So seeing more RAM then a normal console -- the PS3 a total of 512mb shared RAM. So one gig would be doubling what a console needs. 1.5 would be AMAZING.

I'm going to go for say, 2.5 GB of Ram, with 1.5 being the minimum.

What we do is, if we ever need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
We put the volume up to eleven. One louder.

I predict 1.512 GB at the most. You don't need any more than that, and Nintendo needs to keep it cheap.
You mean 1.5GBs, which means 1,536MB of memory (usually).
It's about what I expect really you don't need more than 2GB for something in a 1080p resolution, unless you want to put in a humongous amount of effects.

We're talking about main system RAM, not dedicated GPU RAM.
If Nintendo is smart, they'll take advantage of the insanely low RAM prices at the current moment, and give 2GB main RAM and about 512MB for the GPU.
