It might generate a new code unless Nintendo figure out a way to get your codes from your old Wii.
That might be unlikely, it depends what they're going to do.
I hear they plan to bring your Wii software over via Club Nintendo, but saves will probably just be you copy them to SD Card.
Mario Kart and most other online gamesaves are locked to your wii, because of the friendcode system, but Nintendo could unlock them for transfer if they wanted to.
At the same time, would they bother? Most people would be fine with starting from scratch so long as it's just their online games that won't copy over.
It wouldn't kill them to make an app for it, there's a homebrew that does it, but at the same time, they never bothered to update the Wii's Mii plaza to allow you to transfer 3DS Mii's over to your Wii did they?

Yes, Dolphin does allow that. However, it'd be a bit of a stretch to say Nintendo would implement this in the Wii U. Sony did emulation with the PS3, but the games had the same graphics. The price would skyrocket if the games were upscaled.I hope wii games will be able to play in HD. I've heard that wii games can be played on emulators in HD.
What we do is, if we ever need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
We put the volume up to eleven. One louder.

Who knows if they changed their mind, all signs are pointing to them emulating Wii games rather than relying on hardware for BC.

that would explain the first screenshot of skyward sword were in HDI remember reading somewhere that Nintendo actually made all their textures and games in HD, but then they downscaled them for the Wii.

Those won't affect wii games, unless you mean a message-ish system where you can go "yo babe, let's hit us up some brawl, yo! my fc is 9001 what's your's yo?!?! mofoo wakawaka".It will be easier to play wii games online because of system based friend lists and no friendcodes which im rlly lookimg forward to

I'd assume it would work similar to the Wii's online?
If it works like the Wii's online, you can surely take me off the list of people who want a WiiU. They at least better make this Nintendo Network on par with such online standards as PSN.
And I still find the lack of transferring data such as Brawl and MKWii utterly ridiculous. I never really got friend codes in the first place. Why not just have some sort of SD card with a code number or something that acts like a memory card, and THAT'S your own personal code? It shouldn't have to affect the whole system. Kind of like how 3DS works, except the console itself is just one big friend code. I don't know, they just need to something about that because it really pisses me off that I can't bring my data over to a friend's house who doesn't have Brawl and to play on his Wii would mean to start with just default characters and stages. Instead I have to bring my own goddamn Wii.

So you wouldn't buy it if the wii games had the same type of internet? We are talking about wii games using NN.If it works like the Wii's online, you can surely take me off the list of people who want a WiiU. They at least better make this Nintendo Network on par with such online standards as PSN.

I'm sure they would have to rerelease the games for it to support NN. That, or have a system update option.
