It actually wouldn't be so bad if they just upped up the excitement a little bit rather than just have the path directly laid out for you.

I don't like having to figure out where to go while playing Mario. I just want to lay back, not think, and jump the crap out of Goombas and giant plants. That may just be me, though.

I want the series to go back to SM64 roots and be an open-world exploration theme. I'm tired of everything just being so linear and sugarcoated for me to complete the levels in five easy seconds. I actually want to search for Stars that are hidden in well thought out surprises (Anybody remember "Blast Through The Wall")?

Cannot agree with you more.

Um, that's kinda what linearity is. :P

Mario Linearity is different from actual linear gameplay.

Play Final Fantasy XIII then Galaxy and you'll know what I mean.

Given the screen in the Controller and the demos they showed at e3 2011 I think/hope we get a real 3d Multiplayer Mario.

I gave a rant about topic titles before.

This is the exception.

I thought this was about the new theme tune for the next generation of Super Mario.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

I just thought about that... it would be awesome if the game takes place on a exotic island, in the jungle etc. (you've got the theme). Maybe on Yoshi's Island?

What about a 3D Mario game that you can play multiplayer, we haven't had that yet. (Aside from the Luma helper from SMG 1 and 2.)

I don't mean just in a multiplayer "mode" I mean you can have more than one player when playing through the main game.
Similar to the multiplayer in NSMBW.

And it would be awesome to be in the castle again. (Like in SM64.)
