    DOUBLE CHEESE BURGER WENDY'S

I was wondering (over on another forum... n00bpwners) HOW could Nintendo go above and beyond the PSN? Comparing it to XboxLIVE wouldn't be fair as that is a paid service, while free networks must run on only game profits. BUT HOW? The WiiU could have some extra design tweaks to allow for a better networking experience. Both during & after gameplay. Maybe an extra bit of dedicated proccesing & RAM for constant networking... or something else. On the other forum i posting this:

"Well, Party chat seems likely with the WiiU (as it SHOULD have a good amount of RAM) and the fact that the controler has a Mic in it should influence this. The Wii actually had a headset (but i think only one game supported it) and it also had that WiiSpeak thing (i have it... useless because i dont have any friends to play with and i dont play MHTri anymore). But i think REAL TIME VIDEO CHAT could be cool. Although in intense games it is useless, in a casual/ slower paced setting (such as MarioParty, or a turn based game) it could add much to a gaming party system. Also the idea of cross game chat is cool..... but what about cross platform... Like WiiU to 3DS, or PS3 to Vita (vita supports crossgame chat, but PS3 does not) Even windows phone to Xbox! Or skype integration in steam! And that would also allow for a seemless jump from walking home talking , to Getting home playing a game and talking, to Playing together... talking. And to go even further... what if some games (as some sorta do this now) allow for Ghost data to be posted on your profile. Even transfer items to a friend who need indirect help in a game , although this is less integrated into the console itself.

BUT, data sharing over the console's network has been doen... why not take it a step further? Instead of just transfering a custom level... why not transfer Custom backgrounds for a Home Menu, or create Freind Only  Game specific  Network compatible  Community leaderboards and tournaments. Think about getting your buds together, they all see that You and "DarthGamer" have beaten ... i dunno... 100-Man brawl in 5:00 minutes. This is posted on a Freind Board With yours and DarthGamer's name next to it. Then you can set this Posting to active, revealing a button that says "Challenge" or something. They can challenge your exact scenario (hit the button, it loads up 100-Man brawl with exact settings) and if you are online while they are doing this, you could spectate & Chat while they are challenging your Leaderboard post.
Couldn't this be AWESOME? To integrate a full online community right inside that console of yours. Windows, Xbox & PS3 integrated the Achievment / Trophy system. Why cant the next wave of consoles integrate the COMMUNITY SYSTEM. Where games are enjoyed with friends at any time you wish. Think of it like that status bar that tells your friends what game you're playing... except with full chat, video spectating, and private integrated leaderboards. I think it could be done if somebody tryed."

This is mostly centered towards gameplay... but i really mean ANYTHING involving the network. What could Nintendo implement to give it an edge. What have they already implemented (this will change as the thread gets older obviously), and what do you think about it? Is it useful? how?
Please get creative... i like it when the forum surprises me.

well i already know nintendo's online will most likely be better than xbox live cos 1) its being created from the ground up years after xbox live so they know exactly how to make it as good and better. 2) 3rd parties wanted flexible, nintendo's giving them flexible, that means its better for 3rd party devs no matter what, and hopefully better for us
3) u should be able to do video chat and stuff, and controlling the friends menu on the controller instead of pausing the game like ps360 is a million times better

Those are some good ideas, I would like to have video chat while playing a game.

Well, making one extremely similar to XBL but free would be the starting point. From there, Club Nintendo integration would be a great place to go. Review a game on the Ushop? here's a few CN coins! Platinum a game? That deserves a reward! Here's some coins. Stuff like that would be a great way to get people to choose to play multiplat games on the Wii U instead of other systems.

...Other than that, I got nothin'.

theres a tablet in front of you, consoles do more than just games now these days, even the wii can just do news and weather, 3ds bumped up its networking, and is still improving with services that are probably interwind with the wiiu, so anything that is chatty, messagy, send pictury, broadcast facey is almost a given,

these services are not that hard to run, xbox life is probably even gaining a profit, i still have some hp serverclass downstairs running a minecraft server (because there is not already enough of those), and electricity only seemed to go up 10'ish dollers a month, so anything more than 50c for a xbox live like enviroment is a rip off.

its not going to be hard at all the bump up the connectivity

Nintendo Network is like PSN/XBL/Steam all combined but better thats all we know. And that its 100% FREE. And with that rumor of having what was it? a Gamer Card? Like the Pokewalker but it keeps your Wii U Mii and stats on it so you can walk around with it and use streetpass to get new friends on your friends list. Anyway its Nintendo. They will not fail.

All I want is for Nintendo Network to offer what the current companies already offer plus more.

I'll be pretty happy if I can just get persistent access to social networking features (chat/messaging) via the touchscreen, during games and whatnot. Realistically, given Nintendo's (even recent) history with online functionality, and given the generally reliable premise that the service will be free, I can't expect miracles of networking bliss!

Now... if I'm shooting for the stars here, I would love jump in/out features to be supported, spectator modes for everything, unified leaderboards/stats accessible from friend's profiles, etc.

You don't out do them, you put yourself on par with them. On par is what Nintendo is expected to aim for, from what Im seeing with 3DS it's highly likely the Wii U will have those capabilities, I'm pretty sure when Reggie said tick on the box he was very confident about what he was saying.

What will blow away people is (NOTE: Shameless dream/idea plug) a system wide Skype/Video Calling idea which they should have really thought of. We have gone past the era of "app silos", we want services that tie into the experience (anyone following windows 8 should know what I am talking about) and that "apps" strengthen the experience rather than create an "app" isolation.

If Nintendo wants to impress than play up to par with those competitor services. If they want to blow away everyone then you exploit the weaknesses of those services (App isolation/app silos) and better improve it on your system.
