Not long ago, we told you that Nintendo has a nifty new 3DS esque Street Pass feature coming to the Wii U via, what developers have been calling, the "Gamer Card". To refresh your memory, the gamer card is said to be a small pedometer comparable device, in size, that will allow you to Street Pass other Wii U users, exchanging Nintendo Network information and also showcasing your Mii.

We've gotten a few more details from our source Geno, who has since then briefed us about the gamer card. The Wii U gamer card will be able to also Street Pass Nintendo 3DS(s) that are synced to the Nintendo Network. A single gamer card will be available with the Wii U along with more that can be purchased at retailers for $5 or (possibly) $10; Nintendo is said to be planning a family pack containing multiple gamer cards. From what we've been told, the gamer card hardware features a small low res GBA like LCD screen; to our assumption this keeps costs down allowing them to make the Street Pass feature a possibility without the significantly higher entity of purchasing a 3DS for the functionality across Nintendo Network devices (Wii U & 3DS).

The pic ain't real right?

I love 3DS streetpass. But I don't feel like buying a damn.. thing. I just want my 3DS connected to my network profile so I can streetpass for both platforms using only one.
No sig.

Yeah, I would rather us my 3DS, but for the people that don't have one I guess they can use that small gamer card if it was real.

I would be using it as my 3ds is a bunch of parts I'm still to lazy to fix, that and my top screen cord seems totally severed
as for how real it is... I feel like saying it is not, but it does seem likely what Nintendo will do

This would be great in Japan, and if Nintendo wanted it to be a hit in other Countries they should make a app for phones.

I am one of those that finds the whole gamer card thing a really absurd rumour. I don't believe it one bit. If it is true then I still win as a consumer :) rather say it doesn't exist and be proven wrong than belive this and be dissapointed about it not existing.

This doesn't sound all that far-fetched.

I'd personally love a gamer card. It sounds really cool and almost futuristic for some reason.

Could be good for those who do not have a 3ds (and possibly do not want one). Nintendo is a feature that lets me hook up with my 3ds I would be happy. However, I still have to wait.

Yeah, you've done a great job so far, letting the Metal Heads destroy the palace.

I'm cool with it as long as I get the option to tie it to my 3DS instead of a third pokewalker! (I dont carry my two around from heart gold soul silver anyway)

This.

In fact, that's all they should do instead of another device that you have to purchase that's not a Nintendo console. Everyone has an iPhone or android. Nintendo can even make an app for the silliness that is windows phone.

Though some of the oldsters on the board might cause a fuss because they misunderstand and think it will aupport those platforms. In reality, those platforms are independent and Nintendo is simply using a cell phone (something everyone has already) to bolster their own experience.

I mean, Nintendo uses other manufacturers TVs to display thei experience from console, right, do use other manufacturers phones to promo console features and sharing related to the console experience.
