Darksiders 2 was delayed until August for the Xbox 360 and PS3. But while this delay doesn’t affect those who plan to pick it up on the Wii U, the benefits will be found in all versions of the game. Jay Fitzloff of Vigil Games has explained that they’re now able to fix “a lot of things that aren’t totally apparent” at first, and:

Even two weeks ago there was no snow blowing across the level. You think it’s obvious. But I played this game constantly and I was like, ah, it looks great, and then all of a sudden that blowing snow gets in and I’m just like, wow.

…so:

It’s all these tiny little details that if they weren’t there none would be the wiser, but they do add a solid atmosphere element. It’s just polish. You don’t notice the little details but when they all come together it does make a big difference and gets you into the game more.

I don’t expect the Wii U version of the game will receive special treatment with visual improvements, but it seems like the developers have a commitment to making something special. August is probably also a better time to launch a game. But still, I’ll convince myself the delay was purely for the benefit of the final product.
