I can't really trust the source, so I will simply wait to see what is said at E3. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, though. It's a pretty awesome rumor, especially if it turns out to be true. We'll know soon enough.
Rumor: Wii U CPU said to support 8 threads, is 20X faster than Wii

2 core cpu is a possibility if they mount the gpu and cpu on the same silicon but then blistering bandwidth and very low latency will probably make up for the lack of an extra core (assuming there is reasonable memory on the same chip).
I'm curious to know how people think wii compatibility will be done. I'm guessing the wii U will have the wii gpu incorporated in its silicon but will the wii cpu be emulated or will the wii U actually have a full wii cpu in it. I wonder if the wii U cpu will be a 3 core cpu but one of them weaker which is set up to emulate the original wii cpu.
Personally I'm expecting the wii cpu to be around 50% more powerful than 360, not really expecting a 200-300% boost here. 50% extra cpu power and a lot more memory plus a fast high density optical drive still makes it a very capable system.
