I feel we are at a crossroads in gaming and as this may well be the last generation of true consoles and we all make the switch over to digital gaming in the next ten years should we all stop hoping that nintendo does this, or xbox does that. We all know what to expect from our favoured gaming componies so its kinda boring watching nintendo fans begging for the powerhouse super console they used to run down on game forums! The" its not all about the graphics " attitude us wii owners adopted, dissapered when we first saw wii u. And our hopes of being the best again were re-lit. But i think we should think about what we really want from a console as its time to decide who we really spend our money with!

I don't care about the console, I just want some new Ninty games. That's all. If Nintendo starts developing Mario browser games, I'll play them (don't look down on browser games!).

The problems is no innovation. We know Nintendo whole philosophy is about innovation. My whole want for next gen was 3 distinct consoles all with unique feature that differentiate themselves from the others.now there has been rumors that Microsoft is adopting a screen onto its next Xbox controller. Seriously how is gaming suppose to grow the gaming companies are all copying each other? I do feel the same way as gaming is coming to another crossroads so thats why I'm hoping wii u can reinvigorate the industry and help push us into the nextgen. Everyone has to play their part and here hoping to great gaming for the next 6-10 years for all gamers not matter your console of preference.

I don't mind about graphics, but it's always gonna be better if games do have better graphics (except for some :P ) and I pretty much like all consoles atm ;)

It's gaming, but with the word 'digital' infront of it.

What is "digital gaming"?

Digital gaming is gaming using means of computer technology its a new thing that came around some people think its going to be bigger than the Board game industry as its rumored to allow more variety than is possible on Board games but I don't think it will catch on as a person would need to have electricity and or batteries to play what these Digital Game makers are calling Video Games and that major flaw will prevent it from beating Board Games in the entertainment market.

@Tron I totally agree. Nintendo has always innovated and others followed. Sonys only innovation is with using CDs and DVDs and blu ray, and the EyeToy that didnt catch on. They really nevet introduced something that changes gaming. Its funny, though, because anyone who says they haven't had influence on the gaming business would be crazy. They caused Nintendo to think bigger, created an environment that lead to Microsoft coming in and changing the game with Xbox Live.

I say all that because its not a bad thing if someone mimmicks a good feature. If Bill Gates didnt steal the idea of a mouse, where would we be now? Whay mayyers.is bringing your own innovations to the table, and I fully triat Microsoft to do this. Sony .... When did they do any innovation thatwas life changing? So they will do what yhey do besy .... Copy.

Why are you grouping in hardcore fanboys with regular Nintendo fans?

Nintendo has been around 123 years. They will not go away ever. Even if Sony disappears in 2 years time and Microsoft eventually chooses to not make video games anymore. Nintendo WILL ALWAYS do what they love. Even if the future is stupid Ipads games and PC games Nintendo wont give a damn what their competitors will do. Nintendo will make video games and new systems for another 100 years.

Right now, what I want is something new and, yes, something innovative. Seems like the Wii U will be just that. I own all 3 consoles and they are all very much starting to bore me. Gameplay is getting harder to differentiate between most games (they ALL feel like I've played them before). I've been dumping games to Gamestop and Best Buy building up a ton of credit just waiting for the next gen. Right now the only games on my radar at all left in this generation are Borderlands 2 and Halo 4. Really, that's it. If I get any more it'll be because they were on sale for ridiculously cheap. I'm waiting for $12 or so on Saints Row 3.

Otherwise, I want to see what this Wii U tablet controller is going to bring to the table. And I would LOVE the ability to integrate it's features into games like A Link to the Past or Super Metroid, etc... And, of course, to see how it'll be implemented with new games moving forward. I hope so much they don't allow to become a gimmick for many third party trash games like the Wii ended up as a dumping ground for.

The wii was a limited console for its time, back then Nintendo couldn't afford to invest in a major new console with the latest technology and they took a gamble and it paid off with an innovative controller and appealing to casual gamers. Many of Nintendo's own games for the wii are terrific even with very humble hardware. The wii U represents a huge generational leap from the original wii even if its slightly less powerful, similar power or more powerful than 360/PS3. Its still a huge leap in power over wii and I'm totally excited to see what Nintendo will create with the wii U.

The wii U will be a $299-349 console and thats what people want to pay. $399-499 is just not viable.

This is what I'm expecting, a great launch and great sales figures, after christmas someone will have ripped it apart and shown it to be a bit under-powered (most won't care), later as more and more great wii U titles are launched and sales figures continue to be good those publishers who didn't support the wii U at launch will start sniffing around and start releasing games for wii U. Later PS4 and the next xbox will hit the market place offering a superior specification and similar pricing to wii U. Wii U will drop in price a little bit before their launches cementing its lead. Multiformat titles will be noticably weaker on wii U but Nintendo will have many great exclusive titles that make up for it. Sony sadly will pull out of gaming and end up being bought out completely by a chinese company. Microsoft will start concentrating on set top boxe type units which are powerful gaming consoles but with full movie and tv access via the internet, satellite or aerial and depend on a contract and monthy rental fee. Something like Sky in the uk will end up being a combined xbox/sky type unit. A free linux distro aimed purely at gaming will create a resurgence in pc gaming that will cause many to abandoned regular consoles.

There thats my predictions for what they are worth and the future of gaming for the next 3 years. :D
