I'm of course buying both the Wii U and PS4 but I do wish Nintendo would just give us a super powerful console for the Wii U, we want third party support and that won't happen if the PS4 and 720 are much more powerful, I do really doubt the PS4 will be that much more powerful then the Wii U because of Sony's situation but I do think Nintendo needs to let go of being scared to have super powerful consoles again, of course his statements mean nothing about the power because the Wii U can be a true next gen console in power but they won't pull a PS3 for the Wii U, they said they always could though.
Yeah thats true tho.. but on the positive note: thisgen 1.5 would mean a cheap console. Like, $250?

The reason for that was because of storage.n64 and gamecube want to say "hi, we were powerful and didnt got 3rd party support" to you

And thats true for everyone. I don't claim it will be more or less powerful than the PS4. I happen to suspect it will be less -- but I realize I could be.wrong.
My only concern is, why do you think it will be less powerful then the Cell Processor (in some ways, as you put it)? From what we know, its based off the latest IBM has. And according to Nintendo, we havent seen its full power ... Even with Assassin Creed 3,which is a very good looking game. One of the best on the PS3 (correctly). And looking at Darksiders 2, that's even better.
And thats not even touching what the Wii U can do. So I guess I don't get where that is coming from. Thats all.

GameCube still got more third party support than Wii ironically, at least in terms of hardcore games/multiplats.

Yes but we want as much third party's as Sony and Microsoft are getting.

half of the power could mean what me think of, which is if the wiiu was optimized well, then it will run 2x better than current games, and that would be great
but you could also base half the power against an overclocked, minimal o.s. wiiu with optimized code of a game, and no gamepad support, then the statement would be true
so wherever iwata's basing this off, it in truth is something that may hardly ever happen, theres perhaps %25 percent more juice in this console if you forget the improvements that will never be made
and really, you got the costs of the gamepad, and the stuff nintendo will pack/inspect into its console compared to xbox360, and its laughable skin changes every year XD
i mean, did you ever get a defective nintendo console before!?!?!, no?
they are not ones to lowball console prices either, theres a wii stance in all of this and we may sit out another hundereds of years to see a powerful, graphics focusing, minimalist console from nintendo
so if you thought you were rooting for a wiiu with the latter xbox720 molecular poot fast cpu's, then your out of luck, besides, if its power you want, get a computer, uninstall windows for linux, it will be much better than any console in terms of powah
what does this mean?, im still sticking with the 1.9X power increase from older consoles
i get people want power from a nintendo console, but this is also why its not going to happen completely
why a nintendo console is here- a fun family, friend,or unique gaming experience
why a sony / microsoft console is here- to mimic the power found in a computer, and then overprice you with latter items like controllers and other fees
why AAA games are here- to be bought on computers or sony/microsoft consoles that can handle (or strip down to handle) the games high graphics
and finally why people want power from a nintendo console- because people are sometimes unsatisfied with nintendo games and try to get the best of both worlds by demanding more power, of course in real life this means more costs because not only are you making more spendy components, but you have to top on the software/gamepad costs as well, making it an expensive console nobody will buy but will ultimately be the best, now who wants that?, too bad no console to date has done that, go buy a computer and a wii u if you dont like it

"as we have to devote significant costs to the Wii U GamePad, if we were to apply the same level of enhancement that other console manufacturers shoot for to the processing power component, the Wii U would become extremely high in price, and it would not be affordable."
Breaking news!!! Wii U won't be as powerful as PS4/720! (sarcasm guys, we all ready pretty much knew that).
But to stay on topic, it's great that games in the future will only look better on Wii U than they do now.
But the 720 might never come to be due to Microsoft's "Smart Glass." JK You're probably right.
While most of us probably knew this, some people didn't, and, therefore, this was news to some. As others have said, Iwata did this for the fanboys who say, "How can you call that next gen when it looks like current gen?"

You sure about that? ZombiU was formerly known as "Killer Freaks from ouer Space", and was actually developed on a Xbox 360 SDK, since the Wii U hardware wasn't quite ready at that point yet.I feel my expectations are realistic and I'm not convinced the wii u will be a powerful console just competitive with 360 and PS3.
You won't really see the full potential of what the Wii U can offer for launch games. 2-3 years down the road, with final DevKits, and full understanding of the hardware and optimizations will fully reveal what the Wii U can do.
As for the competitors: Well, Sony and MS have a choice. Will they put monster hardware into the console and add a cheap controller to it (more of the same?), or vice versa? 'Cause doing both would ultimately result into a $500-600 machine, which nobody is gonna buy.
Nintendo wins austomatically.

Or maybe he pulled the "half the power" part out of his ass.
Either way it makes sense that the Wii U is new and early ports and multiplat games won't look to different. Launch titles of the 360 and PS3 didn't really look next gen. It takes about a year. Hell, look at the different between a game like Perfect Dark Zero versus Gears of War 3 or Resistance 1 vs. Resistance 3. Huge improvement.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
