yh haha they wont let that happen again, btw why dont you just buy the 3DS XL, do a system transfer, then sell your old 3DS to GAME, you can get a lot of your cash back or get store credit and spend it on the wii u

$400 is meant to be £250 but it will be slightly more due to more tax and other things.Sorry Europeans for putting up US dollars. V_V Who wants to make a world-wide currency?

It wont come with one but you could buy an external hdd for $50 and use that.I would pay $299.99 max but i could save more and shell out $349.99 if it came with a big hard dive.
As for me $300/350 is my max for the system.Got to have a least $200 for some games and another controller.

Nintendo crammed some serious hardware into this next generation console. It is immensely powerful.
The cost is going to reflect that.
As always, Nintendo does its best to keep costs down.
But there are only so many corners to cut before you impact the machines performance and retail viability over time.
$399 is a reasonable price for any individual or family. Especially considering the machines specifications.
And then you factor in the gamepad.
If people want a $199-299 system, then just buy a wii. Or an xbox. Or ps3. The. Ext gen is not for you. Because those are the specs that amount of money will buy you.
When you are ready to step up to real power, a new experience, and the next generation, then get ready to plunk down $399.
You'll be happy you did. No buyers remorse with this thing.
The great part? Not only will you be playing the best looking games at launch, the games will only get much more impressive a little after that.
I can't imagine people saying the next Xbox or ps3 needs to be $299 or they won't buy it. No reason they should be saying that about the wii u.
We live in an age where a phone or tablet goes for $600+
And the wii u murders them where graphics and games are concerned.
Get ready for a very worthwhile $400 console to bring smiles for a long time.
Even at $400, Nintendo is having to do some clever amortization to give it to us at that price.

The system should retail for $399. Reasons why:
~snip
The magic word sadly applies here: ECONOMY. Not all people view the Wii U as the ultimate entertainment experience that lasts 5 years. They see it as a $400 thing. Parents go and see how much money they have and say "Should we buy a $250/300 or a $400 dollar THING?" That's the problem with that. Sure many gamers would buy it for $400, but not anyone else. The key to success is to appeal to everyone: gamers and casuals alike.

I'd probably spend £150 or less on one, because I can't afford much more than £150 at this very moment

Uhh yes it will be 300 at least. A tablet Controller with modern CPU and GPU's packaged with Nintendo Land will not be 249$.Going for $249.99 there's no way in hell it'll be over $300. Around £199.99 - £249.99 in my money. I guess it'll be £30/$40 bundled with a 3rd party game such as Darksiders II

No one said Nintendo Land would be included. Today, consoles are sold with a lot of pre-loaded content that packaging a full piece of software isn't really necessary anymore. It could still happen, but I wouldn't guarantee it.

Nintendo clearly stated the would not make the same mistake of the 3DS, they also stated they'd not make a console for more than $250. Granted that was before the financial crisis, but I doubt it will be anything more than $299.99. If you start going above that line it becomes an expensive piece of **** rather than good value for money. $300 is pushing the price for a console that I'm not even sure about yet. The console is said only to cost Nintendo $180 - $200 a unit, and mass manufacturing costs, I believe that is possible.
