Lie.Nintendo clearly stated the would not make the same mistake of the 3DS, they also stated they'd not make a console for more than $250. Granted that was before the financial crisis, but I doubt it will be anything more than $299.99. If you start going above that line it becomes an expensive piece of **** rather than good value for money. $300 is pushing the price for a console that I'm not even sure about yet. The console is said only to cost Nintendo $180 - $200 a unit, and mass manufacturing costs, I believe that is possible.

The magic word sadly applies here: ECONOMY. Not all people view the Wii U as the ultimate entertainment experience that lasts 5 years. They see it as a $400 thing. Parents go and see how much money they have and say "Should we buy a $250/300 or a $400 dollar THING?" That's the problem with that. Sure many gamers would buy it for $400, but not anyone else. The key to success is to appeal to everyone: gamers and casuals alike.
Now, if you apply the same logic to the Xbox 8, PS4, and certain Apple products (which have a true refresh cycle of only two years) you might be on to something.
If not, then see previous post.
Drove to Redmond, WA and threw money at the Nintendo building... I was escorted out of the state...
You, my friend, are in an enviable economic position.
