I think the reason for this is to save horizontal space, and vertical space. The whole point of a mobile version would to put a scaled back version, and if that was were to be on there, it would take up a lot of room. Some way to get to them would be nice though.
Be wary, the suck is coming.

I'm not sure why you can't see comments on the mobile version, but if you want to view comments on a mobile device, you can select the option to use the full version of the site at the bottom of the page.

Probably because javascript is a drag on your mobile device's processor.

50% mobile 50% computer. I don't use a phone I use an ipod.It seems like you are always on your phone..
