There is still no evidence at all that the wii u significantly outperforms the current gen consoles sadly. A port of a game on a significantly more powerful console should be an easy equal or superior in some way not have features cut out. Is it really that hard to work out that an inferior port is likely going to be on inferior or similar hardware. The evidence of ports so far seems to be a console that is weaker in cpu terms.
Where is the real evidence that the wii u is more powerful than current gen?
LOL. No evidence of that whatsoever. But you can make stuff up if you want to.
The PC version of Crysis 2 looked almost no better than the 360 version when it launched. Does that mean the PC of all things is worrisome concerning it's power levels? How about the PC version of Assassins Creed (which the Wii U looks the same as)? or Batman Arkham City (which the Wii U actually exceeds, despite being a port). The PS3 version of AC3 has more blurry textures, less lighting detail and sharpness, etc. It's obvious that the Wii U is more powerful even going by the very comparison you use.
The game (a collection of code and assets) is designed to look a certain way on a certain system. When the same assets and much of the same code are swapped to another platform, it doesn't mean that anything magically changes. It's the same stuff, needing adjustments just to make it work, not only to upgrade the game. I don't know how much easier that should be to understand.
Perfect Dark or Kameo didn't look like next gen on 360 either did they? How about the much ballyhooed Halo 3? Most thought it looked like Halo 2. And yet, that system wasn't questioned in the same way the Wii U is. Of course, much of that has to do with MS fully revealing specs while Nintendo is secretive (as they have historically been). but in terms of observable performance, the Wii U launch is off to a better start than the 360, which saw it's works in progress a glitchy mess.
As stated many times previous, you will see what the Wii U is about one year from launch. It won't be a night and day upgrade like the 360 from Xbox, but it will be very noticeable.
but that's not what you are saying is it? You are actually implying the Wii U is somehow inferior to current systems - actually that it is inferior to the PS3 which is technically inferior to the 360 in measurable real world performance. And that is asinine.
There is not one component in the system that the PS3 even holds a candle to, much less exceeds.
True, there is much that is not publicly known about Wii U and its ultimate capabilities. but even what is currently known reveals a system to be much more powerful. Even if you go by early dev kit lowball estimates, it was 50% more so way back when the first underpowered dev kits were floating around.
btw, some screen from AC3 - PS3 on left, Wii U on right:
The initial difference you see right away is the accurate color on wii U (blue sky, brown horse, red brick, etc. vs. brown/beige washout on the PS3 (even the whole of the sky is brown).
Both pictures are somewhat blurry (with the PS3 suffering the worst as evidence by the HUD), so both not direct feed, but it's obvious the wii U has sharper textures, lighting, etc.
Just one example for you.
btw, anyone who uses WiiUDaily (troll site) as a source needs to have their head examined. They don't even know that they posted PS3 screenshots to "show off" the Wii U graphics. For a fun homeword assignment, see if you can discover who runs the sight and where their true loyalties lie. LOL
When the Wii U is launched and torn down, there are going to be some surprised naysayers.
Power 7 derived architecture, AMD 7xxx tech, 2GB RAM, BDD optical tech, etc... shouldn't be a surprise.
All we have seen so far for Wii U are ports, some games that are obviously not trying very hard (Mario, I am looking at you...), "exclusive" games that started life for other systems, and everything based on early, less powerful dev kits. and Zombi U not only started out with code much like a port, it changed it's whole premise until not too long ago. that's normally a recipe for disaster, though Ubi seems to have turned it into some kind of cult hit even before it launches.
Since all ports of current titles look better on wii U, and no games have been publicly shown that take advantage of the system yet, it would appear that the public should obviously see the Wii U is more powerful. What they don't see is how much more so. That will begin around a year after launch. sort of deja vu from the 360 launch. but at the very least, even the most ardent "hater" of the wii U, if they are honest, has to concede that the wii U is a step up, even going by quick and dirty port work, which is not an indicator of system power. Even sumo, who literally "dropped in" the PS3 shader code into the Wii U says their port is at least as good as the Ps3 game and probably even better. talk about quick and dirty and it still comes out better. Actually, some media had erroneously reported that Sumo was saying the wii U itself was on par or maybe better than PS3, but they contacted those outlets to more accurately represent what they said - which was that the Wii U port was at least on par and possibly better visually -
http://www.eurogamer...ybe-even-betterthe reality is the Wii U is a true next gen, superior system with plenty more horsepower compared to the current gen. Nintendo would literally have to put a concerted effort in to make the system weaker or just on par with current systems.
