Funny. I don't care about "winning" any gen; I just want good games.
Nintendo is in a great position with Wii U.
The specs of the console put it in Godzilla status.
The current gen
Consoles are like Bambi in comparison.
Some of you may know where I'm going with this...
So this is what will happen when wii u is in full swing:
Sony and ms will have to call on king kong and mechagodzilla to survive.

Yeah but does sony have enough money? But let's be honest, PC will still be king, and Sony/Microsoft are going to go bigger. You can almost guarantee it. And this I coming from a Nintendo fan since 1989.

No. But they'll put 4K in their system anyways.

Wow man, way to bring down the mood, and don't even try pulling out the "I'm a realist" card. The Wii U has plenty of opportunity to succeed and its way to early to call the games final score. Nintendo knows what it's like to sit on top as king, they know what it takes. Also you need to remember that Nintendo is trying to compete with anyone...and they don't have to until Sony and MS decide to compete with them.

I didn't mean to, nor did I want to, "bring down the mood," TrickySx4. I'm not going to "pull the realist" card, either. Now, let's get to the meat of the issue. The Wii U has every opportunity in the world, true. However, they [Nintendo] are also at a disadvantage coming in first with a new system. It gives Sony and Microsoft time to readjust to "top" Nintendo, which I doubt they'll have to do that. Will bigger, more powerful consoles "top" Wii U? Sure. However, that's not what gaming is for everyone. Gaming to me is about fun and innovation, whether that be from a Wii, PS3, 360, PC, or handheld. Nintendo did a lot right with Wii, and they did a lot wrong. I don't need to go into those.
It's the same with any form of entertainment. I like movies with innovative plots, new characters, and odd stories. That being said, a movie can be made on a hand recorder for all I care; if the movie is good, it's good. But, to some, they have to have the huge Titanic-esque movies to feel entertained and justified. If you don't know that we've been watching the same movies since the 20s/30s, you've really not looked at the template. Same with video games and consoles.
Wii U will be "topped," but what does that really mean? To some, it means everything. To me, not very much if every game is going to be CoDHaloMaddenFPSBLAAAAHHHHH~!

Lol this was cool ^.
but i really dont think sony and microsoft will be able to make much more powerful machines even if they tried. the price would be unreasonable and just not worth it with the wii u on the market. i just hope sony and microsoft realize that because if not the next xbox will probably fail unless they shoot for the casual gaming audience, and sony will dig themselves in a bigger hole than they are now and people wont care because wii u is getting the best third party support and of course nintendo games

This sounds a bit fanboyish. Honestly, better technology seems to be getting possibly cheaper. XBOX won't fail because of the steady fanbase it's garnered itself, not to mention Microsoft isn't going anywhere for awhile. And while Sony is in a crudhole right now, but they still have MUCH better third party support than Nintendo does (from what we know). You shouldn't cast these companies aside so easily.

Third party support will be huge for MS. As they are supposedly shifting over to x86, they can easily make the full version of Direct3D available to developers for the NextBox, if it does run on the Windows 8 kernel then game development between PC and the NextBox will be a lot easier and will be huge.its safe to assume nintendo still has the kiddie image. im pretty confident in saying wii u will be the least powerful in terms of graphics power. 3rd party support will be slightly higher for sony and ms. im really interested to see how much difference there will b with a 720 game and a wii u game. its gunna take some new games to be revealed tomorrow for me to purchase a wii u before seeing the other consoles in action. because at the moment 2d mario games are not winning me over!
The WinRT already supports the full Direct3D version of numerous game engines, like Havok and UE3, and undoubtably UE4 as well. I am honestly more excited for the next Xbox than the next playstation despite being primarily a PS3 gamer. The core technology behind the next xbox will be huge if they are using the Windows 8 kernel and have support for the full Direct3D APIs
