I've only tried the XL in a store before and I don't own one yet, but I thought it felt more comfortable to hold than the original model and the larger screen was a big positive for me. If you don't currently own a 3DS, I'd recommend paying a bit more to get the XL.
I'm thinking the same, simply for the bigger screen.

2. Is there a gamercard-esque site for 3DS? Or, did you make that awesome banner yourself?

1. If you add me, do I have to add you before we are official connected?

I, too, would also like to know this. I've seen some awesome 3DS banners on here..

I know you already bought one, but for anyone considering:
Screens look visibly better and are so big and beautiful.
The system has a more mature look. It looks rather matte, but has a slight metallic finish, which really helps give it that extra something.
Hinges feel so much more secure. They snap beautifully.
There's a "snap" to the 3D slider, this helps make sure it stays off. (Turning it on by accident is a problem for me on my 3DS original)
The buttons click so much better as well.
Definitely worth the $30 extra bucks.

I agree. So. Much. Better.
