Can we watch movies on the Wii U? Like, finally did Nintendo make a console that can play DVD/Blu-Ray?

You probably already have a DVD player.......

I have a PS3 so I'm good I don't need the wii u to do anything but play my Nintendo Games!

Its possible if the wii u is ever hacked that a homebrew dvd and bluray player will become available for wii u. Although Nintendo have stated the wii u discs will only be 25GB i.e. single layer the optical driive must be able to read dual layers for dvds as the wii has some dual layer games unless Nintendo have limited the optical drive to read single layer discs. Thinking about it only a few wii games are dual layer I believe and its possible these are the wii games the wii u won't be compatible with.

Its madness to wear out the laser on your wii u reading dvds though. The optical drive is the least reliable part of the original wii and the same is going to be true of the wii u.
