Hey guys I just found this video of Kotaku getting hands on with the Wii U console. They even show the back. I wouldn't think the white Wii U would be/look any different from the black one. Here it is.
This is over a year old.. I wonder if it still looks the same.

Reggie: ...As you probably know -and I hope you do- Nintendo has always been about innovation. And yes, for our die hard fans, we decided to thank you by revealing something new, and completely innovative: the adapter's port will be HGSMKJBIHYB type and will allow you to... plug your Wii U, into the wall to use electricity. You heard it right: plug the Wii U, into... the... wall.Maybe they just want something else to reveal before launch.

What I'd like to see is a sata connector on the wii u so an external hard drive can be connected that operates at full speed.
Like others I would like to see either an optical or coaxial surround socket on the wii u. I don't have an amp that can make use of surround sound from hdmi so I will only be able to use my wii u with a 2 channel sound connection and use prologic II of the amp to make pseudo surround sound like the original wii. Not the ideal.

I assume you mean Stereo out of HDMI is almost as good as real surround over optical?
Seeing as surround out of HDMI is superior to surround out of optical, because its completely uncompressed PCM.
I was going to say the same thing. Sound from HDMI is superior to optical.
As for the USB ports its already been stated they are all 2.0 and not 3.0.
Maybe they didn't want to draw attention to the big fan grille. Perhaps the wii u is a fair bit noiser than the original wii due its greater power and it needs to cool itself more aggressively.

That does kind of sucks. I'm fortunate that I have a relatively new Onkyo surround sound amp which has 6 HDMI inputs which support full HD video and audio. I currently get multi channel over HDMI with my Mac, PS3 and Xbox 360 and will get it from the Wii U as well. I think for Nintendo it's a cost and practicality issue. That said both the Xbox 360 and PS3 support both.
