I have a strong feeling that there is going to be a noticeable gap between Wii U and the other Next-Gen consoles, but not as big as there was with Wii vs Xbox 360 and PS3, and Core developers will once again leave the Wii U behind...so sad...

i still doubt this very much. because no matter how bad it gets, all that needs to happen is that developers dont use the gamepad, only use the one screen like a normal console and all of a sudden you have unlocked a tonne more power.

Two Tribes themselves told me that they were never told the specs and they're not written down in the Dev kits, their game doesn't push the console at all so i dont think they know the specs. they are speculating

Let's see, of Sony and microsofts next consoles are so powerful, then we will be paying around a thousand dollars for them!! And Sony will go out of business and Microsoft will decide if they don't get money they won't make game consoles, and then we will be without Sony. And if Sony goes down I will cry. If Microsoft goes down I'm just gonna laugh.

Problem with your theory is that both Microsoft and Sony sell more than game consoles, and could easily survive if they don't sell well.

Not to mention technology advances just like computers when it comes to home consoles. They can probably still make a kickass console for $499 and $599.

Way to be negative Two Tribes..glad these guys have a scrying pool of the future to peer into. What basis are they making this statement on anyways? So far there are far more core games and casual games coming out within the launch window. They cam make the exact same statement about the XBox 360 for that matter. That system has become plenty more casual friendly over the years.

I didn't say Microsoft would go out of business. I said they would stop making Xbox if it didn't make money. And Sony would go out of business because they are already 2/3rds of the way there. And they could make a console that price that would be more powerful that wii u, but those were the prices of of the Xbox and ps3, and even though both of them sold well, Playstation 3 nearly destroyed Sony. And in todays economy no one is going to buy a 600$ console because everyone has bills to pay and food to buy, many of those people also trying to find jobs or are getting paid minimum wage. Also for 100 more dollars you can get an amazing gaming computer( and if your good at building them you could probably pull it off under 500.

They rely heavily on games now that other products aren't selling as well.

Do you have something against alienware? I've used my friends and it runs skyrim at 1080p 80ish FPS compared to the PS3 running it at 34 FPS 720p. There may be better but Alienware is pretty BA.

Fair enough, but that still proves my point about a 600 dollar console is dumb because you can build a really nice pc for probably less than that.

Hi Everyone,

The tweet that spawned this news item was sent from the wrong account. It was meant to be sent from my personal account as a quick reply to something Emily Rogers said. I’ve tried to rectify it on the GoNintendo forums, feel free to check it out:

http://gonintendo.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=93464&p=699138#p699138

Hopefully this can be rectified on this site as well. Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

Collin

Alright guys while we do know nothing about the other next-gen consoles and only very little about Wii U technical specs, it's most likely that this generation will be a repeat of the current generation. Nintendo will take the cheap path and win this generation again (though they focus a little bith more on the core gamers, with specs that hold up slightly better compared to what the Wii did). NextBox and PS4 will be obviously more powerful, though not as much as people expect, but still enough for developers to not release their games on Wii U, which would be a mistake of Nintendo.
No sig.

Ah, well Sony has their televisions, home theater systems, cameras, blu-ray players, and tablets.

It would be tough for them to fall completely if the PS4 fails.

6.4 billions lost by Sony due to the console department. 2/3 of their money. Just consoles. (I love bringing that back.)
Make a console for "JUST" $499 and $599? that's what I call overpriced... Sony and Microsoft are not stupid. They would probably not die, but if they see that they're losing money because of their console, they will stop making them. Should I tell you that Microsoft is fed up of being butchered by Apple anyway?

So a casual games developer hopes a hot console like the wii u will be home to primarily casual games?

Nothing self serving there...
And seriously, it's not that hard to figure out what account you're tweeting from. Smells of a clean up job.

Also, anyone with they opinion has clearly not been paying attention to... You know... Facts, recent events, etc.

Nintendo has publicly stated a mission to win back the hardcore market. Everything from specs to publishing deals (bayonetta2 anyone?) to the developers they are signing up literally every day....

And then the makers of toki something or other is trying to preserve a "haven" for games like theirs by adding their own words to sway public mindshare.

Some guy employed there with "no inside info" has access to the corporate PR account? Don't think so.

It was a bad move. It failed. Now they are cleaning up.

Instead of people saying "yeah, you're right. Can't wait for more toki somethingorother!," people said "what The heck or you smoking?" that is called a viral fail.

Good job guys!

Now, please go and learn to diversify your portfolio. That way you don't have to worry about people "growing out of" your casual games because you'll actually have a plan.

This type of explanation might work for the majority of people out there who's only knowledge of the industry is pressing a console power button, but for folks who have a better idea of how thinks work, this is a slap in the face.

Nintendo highlighted your game even. And you go and try to fit them into a little box that suits your needs.

I know what game I'm NOT buying my little sister for her new Wii U.
