OK, I want to know your top 5 games from each system starting with the NES. If you didn't grow up playing the NES or SNES etc you can skip it.

NES
1 Blades of Steel (Hockey, Fights w/ the loser going to the penalty box = awesome)
2 Guirilla War (Shoot em up, great with 2 players)
3 Zelda (Love how hard this one is, wish they were still hard to complete, they have gotten too easy)
4 Galaga (Duel ships anyone?)
5 Tecmo Bowl (Bo Knows)

SNES
1 Legend of Zelda: A Link To the Past (Best Zelda Ever, I beat this at least once a year)
2 Super Metroid (Amazing game, if you havent played this you need to DL it now!)
3 NHL 94' (One-Timers baby)
4 Mario Kart (The start of a great franchise)
5 F-Zero (Space Raceing with boost)

N64
1 Mario 64 (Best transition to 3D, amazing depth for it's time)
2 Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Love pulling that master sword)
3 Star Fox 64 (Great arcade like action with multiple vehicles)
4 Perfect Dark (Better than Goldeneye)
5 Blast Corps (Different yet fun, sometimes frustrating as heck too)

GameCube
1 Resident Evil 4 (As soon as I finished it, I wanted to play it again)
2 Metroid Prime (Wow, graphics, huge world, puzzles, and epic battles)
3 SSX Tricky (Fun as heck, It's Tricky!!!)
4 Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (I dident mind the change, still too easy though)
5 Mario Baseball ( Great Dorm room game, we had tournaments and leagues :-) (Unlocking each characters star was hard as heck but when I finally did I tried to sell memory cards with the characters unlocked b/c it was so hard to do. No one ever bought it though lol)

Wii
1 Metroid Prime Trilogy (Holy crap, all 3 on one disc!)
2 Fortune Street (Best board game on a console ever)
3 Mario Galaxy (GRAVITY)
4 Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword (Fun but still lacking the difficulty)
5 Wii Sports (Still played to this day, gotta give it credit, makes me have strong faith in Nintendoland)

This list may change as I read yours, I'm sure I have forgotten some of my experiences.

No... I mean the controls were good and all and the temples too, and that dragon where you got to fight all the bosses again was great, but... there were just too many annoying things in it. Fi was a nice character, apart from always spoiling all the puzzles, stating the obvious and - worse - stating the not really obvious, but things you suspected. And the game was extremely linear, it was all about being told where to go and then go there. I mean, I don't mind a fetch quest every now and then in a Zelda game, but to be told exactly where I should go and get something, fly there on my bird, and go back with whatever it was, is just totally pointless. Add to that all the pointless unskippable dialogue and you have Skyward Sword, a really good, but also really, really annoying game. I can't believe they had people testing it and not complain about these things. Like having a hero mode where you can't find extra hearts lying around - that made the game more challenging in a nice way - you actually needed to plan your trips with potions and so on. Except... after a while, you find a heart medallion and all of a sudden, you can find hearts again! It definitely had its moments, and maybe I should have put it above Monster Hunter Tri, but... no, I got too frustrated.

Yeah, your completely right, I enjoyed the mechanics of the game but the actually quest was linear as you said. When is Zelda going to START with a difficulty setting, I want it to be hella hard from the beginning. I don't think I died once this time around, that's just too easy. I'm also surprised that no one has Super Metroid on their list. Honestly guys, if you haven't played it all the way through you need to download it on VC now, it's awesome.

Super Metroid is number 1 on my SNES list, of course.

Great lists (from everyone) so far. Here's mine:

Nintendo Entertainment System
1. Super Mario Bros. 3
2. Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt
3. Contra
4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game
5. Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones

Super Nintendo Entertaiment System
1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
2. Super Mario World
3. Super Mario Kart
4. NBA JAM
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time

Nintendo 64
1. Super Mario 64
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3. GoldenEye 007
4. Super Smash Bros. 64
5. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire

Gamecube
1. Super Mario Sunshine
2. Mario Superstar Baseball
3. Super Smash Bros.: Melee
4. NHL HITZ 20-02
5. Medal of Honor: Frontline

Wii
1. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Best of 'Galaxy' Series)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
3. Super Smash Bros." Brawl
4. Wii Sports (Series)
5. Mario Kart: Wii

It was hard narrowing it down to five, especially for NES through N64. Just a few notes:

- I started college in Fall '04
- Super Smash Bros 64 got the most dorm room play out of the Smash games, until Brawl came out.
- Mario Superstar Baseball, NHL HITZ, Wii Sports, and Mario Kart Wii were also great college games
- In making this list I realized my least favorite gen was Gamecube, and re-confirmed that my favorite gen was N64.
- I've got to honorably mention the NFL BLITZ, Rogue Squadron, and Zelda games for their respective systems, Star Fox 64, NSMB Wii, and Rayman Origins.
