I read it from somewhere (can't remember where) and it said that you needed something like a Turtle Beach to talk through the games.

Skype = cross platform chat
Why complicate things? Not everyone has a computer to use Skype. Derp.

With any luck Nintendo will get a clue and add support in a firmware update, but it sucks they didn't realise how useful this feature is from day one
Its one of the drawbacks of their "we do not look at our competition" attitude, as if they had they would have seen PS3 users begging for cross-game chat for years now.
