GAME Mobile App Suggests That Nintendo ID Is On Its Way

The company's mobile application for iOS now has a field requesting a "Nintendo ID" - and it's nestled right next to the "PSN" and "XBOX Live Tag" ID fields.
Nintendo has so far kept its cards very close to its chest regarding online plans for the Wii U, but it's safe to assume that some retailers will have been briefed on what is in store - so this is a fairly solid indication that the Nintendo ID is becoming a reality."

I wonder how this would work though, would each account be having its own Mii? Or would each account have how ever many Mii's and you would need to switch which Mii your on each time you log in. This stuff confuses me!!! Nintendo we need details!

What I hope though? It's a Unified Account System shared between 3DS and Wii U, similar to PS3 and Vita/PSP unified PSN account system, I think that's how it works? Lol
We foot will rebel one day.

That's what I'm afraid of, but won't be surprised at. I'm not expecting much improvement, but we'll see where this goes.An ID can easily be a friend code.
Something puzzles me though. Why would Nintendo want us to have a username in the Profile section of System Settings? I don't really see it being used anywhere except for Download Play. Nintendo must have a reason for it being there.

True. I just wanna know what it was used for in the DS and DSi, and what it is currently being used for in the 3DS.They had a username setting in the DS as well.
Capcom IDs in Monster Hunter Tri were 6-character combinations of letters and numbers. However, if Nintendo gave us a universal friend code with the 3DS, I wonder what they'll really do with the Wii U. I want the Nintendo ID or whatever to be user-created, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
