It seems like the press has to wait just like us for the first day update, they have no access to Miiverse, the E-Shop, or the Nintendo Network. The reviewer had positive impressions of the system, which is good.

Brilliant, now we can hear what actual people have to say about the system, and it's getting off to a really good start

The WaraWara Plaza is the "start up screen", basically the first thing we see when it starts up. Watch the first minute or so of this
