This isn't exactly a big deal or a big issue. Most Wii U owners will either use the internal storage or an external hard drive for this purpose.

This makes a lot of sense... Most Wii U games are going to be at least 3-4 gigs. Using SD cards to store all of those would be really expensive.

Be wary, the suck is coming.

Can't be downloaded to SD card. Can be stored there, probably.

I don't see the bad news.

Not only did u save money by Nintendo not packing tons of storage in the console...

But you also get to use external hard drives at least up to 3 tb.

Most folks have at least one external hdd just laying around.

There is no bad news. It's only good

Didnt even read the link but its a duh.
The sd card is fat32 and easy to read via pc. While an extrenal hd would be formated to a wii u only format.
Its all done to stop "game sharing".

Guess the only reason I'll be using an SD card is for the wii games I'll probably be playing then, not a big problem.

Yeah, I don't see a real reason to have an SD card - larger format cards are only like half the price of a 1-2TB external anyways.

So can SD cards.

I dont think u inderstand what i said
I said nintendo made it so you cant play from sd card so it will stop people from hooking it up to the pc and tranfering. While a fully fotmated hd wont be able to hook up to a pc without deleting everything.

i posted this because in another thread i saw a few people saying they wouldn't get a hdd because they were going to use sd cards to download.
i myself will be using a 1 tb book that i have had sitting around forever.
but i don't get the sd cards aren't a smart cheap option argument...
we have 64 gig sd cards here for $30
that's cheap to me for double the hard drive space your console has.

Judging by the size of the games most people would probably store it in an External Hardrive. SD cards aren't big enough and large sizes are expensive.

Considering that Wii U games can be up to 20-25 GB's in size 64 GB SD cards wouldn't go very far any way and wouldn't be practical and too costly.

it depends on what you intend to use it for if your going to down load a lot of disc based games go with a large size if you are just going to use it for dlc and smaller e shop games 500gigs should be plenty. I got a 3tb one but I figured I can use it for other stuff if I need to.
