I'm going to a Wal-Mart without a pre-order, and that doesn't accept pre-orders and will have units. There will likely be a midnight launch and I plan on going at least 4 hours early but not days earlier and I don't really want to go more than 6 hours earlier.

Yes, if the store is doing first come-first serve or if you run super fast to the wii u stand and trip everyone else

You will probably have to get there many many hours early... There's pretty much going to be a shortage of them because lots of people want them and they can't provide enough in time xD

I have sold my Wii U, so if I deleted you from NN before I sold it, or haven't accepted your friend request since, this is why.

Target would be your best bet, here is the story: when I got my wii A month or so after Wii launched and it was still in high demand and it was in their ad for week I got there early like 6am and was number 8 in line. Luckily the store manager had a number system in effect and gave people coming early his business card with a number on it when he ran out of cards that was it which was nice of him since it was like 10 degrees that morning in january and you could go back to your car for some heat until opening. At about 7:55am he had us line up in order and walked us down to electronics. He made it abundantly clear if anyone jumped line or caused a ruckus. you would be escorted out of the building and lost your spot. There were no issues, no fights etc. I got my wii and went home happy!

Im sure if you get there in the very early you will be able to pick one up. I was the first person in the eastern north carolina area to get a wii. I was in line at 7a.m and switched in and out with my wife and friend. I cant really predict if your gonna have to go THAT early this time but im just letting you know you do have a chance.

hard call. If they dont have preorders then they should have around 10-15 deluxe system. First come first gets.
So if you wait in line and are number one then yea. but other then that people will be there waiting.
I rememeber on black friday last yr there was people lining up at walmart around 6pm.

You don't get that kind of service here in the UK, except maybe private video game stores, stand alone companies. They will make you wait in the queue outside.
