not sure why Nintendo made two different versions in the first place.

Agreed. They should of just made one version and made enough copies of it.

Was gonna get the white one since I prefer the color but figured the 10% digital promotion was worth the 50 bucks. Since I won't always want to wait a year to buy a physical game on sale lol.

What is the digital promotion anyways?

You get 10% back in points, which transfers into usable money in $5 increments.
So... You buy a $59.99 game online, you get 599 points.
500pts=$5
So the next game you buy gets that $5 discount. If you plan on going all digital it'll pay for itself soon enough,especially with the occasional eShop only game, but the promotion is only supposed to last two years.

Ah, I see. I'm not one for digital downloads, but that's pretty cool.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how much digital purchases I'd be making, but I knew for sure I'm going to buy some eShop games such as Nano Assault. Figured it'd be worth it in the end.

I just ended up going with the white one. I have a TB storage so thats not a problem and Nintendo land wasn't a big deal first game is going to be Mario. Also saved myself $50 and I was a day too late for the black but im not complaining the basic will do just fine :)

I think the Deluxe is definitely more popular although the 8gb units are definitely selling out as well. When I was able to grab a Deluxe at Best Buy this morning (by the skin of my teeth) the BB employee handing out numbers went through every single Deluxe, but still probably had about 10 or so 8gb ones left. I was 11 of 12 Deluxe units and there were only a couple people in line behind us that reluctantly went with the 8gb instead of nothing. Fry's sold out of Deluxe units for walk-ins (the lady said they only got about 5 extra), but they had about 8 or so 8gb units, but were ONLY selling as bundles. I walked into a Target about 20 minutes later and got the very last Deluxe there. They did not have any 8gb units on hand, but don't know what they started with. I found it odd there was even a Deluxe left. Went to a second Target in town 10 minutes later and they were 100% sold out.

Before I made my attempts this morning, I got on the waiting list at my local GameStop and they were already booked on preorders for all types. I was #1 on their waiting list for an 8gb unit and got on the list for a Deluxe and was probably around 24th in line. This was about Two weeks ago I got on their list for the Deluxe and one week ago for the 8gb. So, clearly at this store, the Deluxe was in significantly higher demand.

I ended up getting the Basic, since if I got the deluxe I wouldn't of had enough money to buy New Super Mario Bros U. Doesn't really matter to me though. The only thing I wish I got was NintendoLand, but I'll just pick that up in a year or so when its price drops or goes on a sale. The 8gb doesn't worry me too much since its pretty easy and cheap to add external hard drives.

The issues i was referring to with regards to the 8GB storage is when new updates have to be installed on the system with only 8GB the first update is 5GB that leaves only 3GB left for the life of the console, i do not know if the SD expansion will work in the same way ?

I have the Delux on order i have also got a 32GB SD card & a 320GB USB HD ready to connect when it arrives.
