I did notice something interesting in the wiiu game boxes it has clips for a extra plastic sleeve for aditional discs.

A lot of DVDs and even Xbox games are doing this now. It is cheaper to manufacture one case with the clips and manufacture the extra shelf only when needed than it is to manufacture two entirely different sets of cases. That's probably even more true for the colour of the Wii U cases being a non-standard game case.

I don't think Nintendo has made any announcement about wii u discs going beyond 25GB and they probably would if it did as its a selling point. Reality is 25GB is more than enough unless you create a game that is practically all fmv. The 360 copes with only 8GB of storage quite well most of the time. By sticking to single layer disc you speed up loading times considerably. Each time a laser has to focus on a different layer it creates a delay causing much slower access times. I think Nintendo always tries to minimise loading times. The gamecube was especially brilliant in that regard you'd hardly know the system used an optical disc at all compared to something like the ps2.

I'm more than happy with 25GB unfortunately just like with the ps3 many games are written to the standard of the weakest console and this means many ps3 games only store about 8GB of data just like the 360. The 360 and wii u have some similarities and its possible many wii u games will also be about 8GB because they are parallel developed with 360 versions. I'm hoping that because we now have 2 formats with generous optical space, wii u and ps3 hopefully many games will be developed for those formats utlising more space. I've always found it annoying that the ps3 versions of games copy the 360 system of using the game engine for movie sequences due to lack of space on the disc. The ps3 version could easily have full 1080p pre-rendered video with superior audio. Some of the games that utilise the ps3 disc better like final fantasy are massively superior on ps3. Games like LA Noire don't have all that disc changing inconvenience on ps3.

Some great points, Desert Punk, but it's also worth noting that the Wii U will likely feel hindered by its relatively small disc capacity in a few years time. With that said, the laser in the Wii U could probably read dual-layer discs, but whether or not the discs are made is another story.

There will undoubtedly be games that will not be available on the eShop. I don't foresee massive titles such as Pikmin 3, the next Zelda, Smash Bros., etc. as downloads.
