I powered the console off, and it has a white light where the eject button is above the red power button. I only noticed this after giving my game a break, and powering off the console. Is this normal, or does this have to do with a Miiverse notification? Also, does anyone know if the Wii U lights up blue like the Wii did with notice updates?

The light only indicates that there is a game inserted, as far as I know.

is it the wifi light? could be like a background thing and it updates software etc at certain times like PS+
or is it so the gamepad can turn it on?

Mine does it too. Just eject the disc before shutting it off.

That's kind of pointless and a minor annoyance. There should be an option to disable that.

i wonder if the disc is still spinning when the systems off and the light is on. That would kill a disc drive pretty fast,

Constantly unplugging and replugging it is worse. Besides the disc isn't spinning. Why would it if the console is off?

how is it worse I do it with all my systems and never once had a problem. If you read the manuel it even tells you to unplugg the ac adapter to the game pad when its not in use.

Where do you unplug it from the outlet or the console?

That's the upad, which has a lithium battery, which could be damaged if over-charged.
The console isn't a upad.

You're telling me that I have to time when the upad is done, so I can take it off the charger immediately before it damages the battery?

I'm telling the lady I quoted that the reason the manual tells her to unplug it when not in use for a prolonged period of time, is to avert potential damage to the battery of the upad.
It's a standard warning on all lion batteries.

I know I'm just saying that sucks. It should stop charging when it's fully charged. :(

They usually have circuitry to do that, but it's always better to plug the plug out.
The DSi and 3DS for example do it.

The white light signifies that you have been chosen for a super secret prize!!!!

Nah, it just let's you know there's already a game in there and not to try jamming another disc in.

I'm certain that it's been noticed that Mr. Murphy was 'yanking your chain', as they say.
