I BOUGHT MY SON A BASIC SO HE WOULD HAVE ONE FOR CHRISTMAS, AND AS I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK, MY WIFE CALLED ME AND SAID EB GAMES HAD 2 BLACK MODELS AND HE WAS HOLIND IT FOR 15 MINS. THOUGHT IT WAS WEIRD THAT STORES WOULD GET 2 UNITS THE DAY AFTER THE LAUNCH. ANYWAYS I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE SOME MORE PEOPLE THE HEADS UP.

There will be a few shipments trickling into stores over the next few weeks, but they will be in one or two unit shipments and be completely unpredictable. As far as we know, Nintendo is not planning on another mass shipment of Wii U until it can produce a large batch, will not be until after the holiday season. They also like the hype of the machine so there is not a ton of added pressure for Wii U production. It is a big piece of what made the Wii as successful as it was outside of gaming circles while it was widely just a "meh" console within gaming circles.

My gamestop has 2 deluxes that are for the wait list people. #1 and 2 on the list had not come to pick up when i was in there today. tomorrow #3 and 4 will be called. too bad im #20 on the list.

I think you will get one before Christmas, and maybe even sooner. As other posters have said they are getting some in.
I was number 1 on the wait list, got a call a couple of days before launch. Picked it up Sunday morning at 8:30 am.

Im not sure about that as the stores here have to hold a unit for 72hrs before they go on to the next person, it was only about 30hrs.

He was making a sarcastic comment about the caps lock posting. Generally, all caps posts are more inclined to be viewed with less integrity, regardless of the message. And many people, as you can see here, will mock such posts. Not saying you suck, or that Griff is a bad person, just pointing it out since you asked.

Basic point of your post is that some retailers do have spare units stocked and it doesn't hurt to check. I assume for the people who haven't pre-ordered, this counts as a light of hope. I'm also not surprised that some spares are floating around. Heck, for the people who couldn't land one, it may even be possible to acquire a worker's copy of the system, depending on how nice they are (which was the case with me and Jason's my PSVita).

I think my local Target has some deluxe sets still available: bot a lot of people near me want a WiiU, so I can go pick one up if I want. I'm gonna wait until after Christmas to see how many cash gifts I will get.
