I've been following numerous sites/tweets about how the Wii U freezes at times & seems to be a common problem. This kinda makes me nervous. Is this as big of a problem as I read it to be? Is this hardware related or something that can be fixed with a future update?

It happened to me about 5 or 6 times already and had to unplug it. Hopefully its not hardware related but I heard that Nintendo will be releasing an update to fix this problem just not sure when that will be.

It is most definately a real and prominent thing, and something that is definately os related and not hardware related. It can be fixed with a firmware update.

Nintendo already knows about this, has apologized, and said they will fix it in a firmware update as soon as possible. Not soon enough if you ask me. Im actually a little relieved Im holding off on my purchase until after the holidays.

hi, im posting from mi wiiu the browser is brutal fast and awesome omg, i didnt had any freeze or issue of any kind in my firts 2 days with the console, enjoying it so hard

Of course it could, if something was very very wrong with it. But Ive never even felt one warm to the touch yet.

Now, just for a bit more information, there was a rhumor going around that Nintendo was going to be releasing an update for this issue this week, but when i called Nintendo about this same issue, they said the update would be in December, and that it would be a broad update, fixing a number of issues.

LOL 240 thats what you americans call the 180sx. its a Nissan Skyline not a 240. But yeah its mine.

I got a freeze a few times when going into apps like youtube/netflix and also a few times when I load into the Wii U main screen.

Update:just froze trying to loaf the ninja game in nintendo land. Had to pull the plug to reset it

Cant edit on phone. Just did it again just after loading the game.

Hmm, I've noticed the only time my Wii U freezes is when I'm on the YouTube app and I'm moving through videos too quickly when searching

well i've only had one issue with freezing, i can NOT play metroid in nintendoland, every single time it freezes and does the loud noise as soon as i walk into metroid, tried like 8 times to play that one

I hadn't had the issue prior to tonight. Hadn't played it all day, load it up and head into Zelda single player, froze the first time between rounds, the next as soon as I tried to calibrate the controls. So, not heat related. Seems random as I played the same game before with same remotes with no trouble.


And now a third time as soon as I booted into the game. I hadn't done anything yet.

This is quite aggravating, no real cause, it just happens. Hopefully it's software, but it's random so there's no real condition leading up to it.

Four. Four times in a row. I've powered it down and let it rest for minutes inbetween with power removed.

Mine froze once while checking my notifications right after the system update, no problems after that though, it doesn't really bother me though as Ninty will fix it.
