Nintendo has experimented many new things with their move to the digital market, some good, some bad. Nintendo heard our pleas to remove friend codes and they listened, same goes for when they changed the pricing off Eshop titles from points to actual currency. Now i think it's time to see if we can also change the data storage from blocks to Mb/Gb.

Some won't find this as an issue, however for people like me with a very small internet cap it's quite necessary to know how much we will be chewing up. Now that the Eshop has grown to the extent of featuring full retail games it would help the consumer to know just how much data needs to be chewed up.

All i plan to use the Eshop for is to buy any Indie titles that catch my attention, however i think it would only benefit Nintendo just to make this change, it's not a big change but it would make a big difference.

Doesn't it already use MB? The system storage menu does.
(I've not downloaded something from the E-Shop though, so it may give you info in terms of blocks. I'm just not sure.)

A change like that seems unlikely for Nintendo, they seem set on using the more user friendly 'block' system. There seems to be some conflicting arguments on the size of individual blocks, from what I gather 8 blocks = 1mb so if that's correct you can work out the size of a game on your own without Nintendo changing their system.

Wasn't 1 block 8MB on the Wii ?

I think it's the other way around.

8 blocks = 1mb

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

Correct, 1 Block = 128KB

128KBx8 = 1024KB = 1MB :-)

I purchased NSMBU on the eShop. The pages doesn't tell you about the size until you purchase the actual title which is totally stupid, imo.

Anyway, New Super Mario Bros. U is 1.73GB approximatively to download. They don't use blocks anymore and that is very well welcomed. At least, for the Wii U. It still does for every other Nintendo console and or portable device before it... Ugh.
