Did a bit of a search and only found a few small mentions of the "ouya" so i thought i would start a thread as its release gets closer and closer. Just wondering if anyone else is keen or like myself has pre ordered one ? Or just share information or your thoughts about the Ouya.

Well i paid with paypal, And one of the guys i went to school with actually helped develop the console so i can tell you now its definitely a legit item.

I don't know. It just seems like there won't be really "full" games on it. Like it's intended for those who don't have a console to begin with. I just don't feel that im the Ouya's demographic.

I will most likely shy away from it - its an android device at its heart meant to bring all the multimedia and gaming fun from the Android to your TV - my problem is while I love my Android phone...I don't game or do anything other than use a few apps , browse the web, and make phone calls. This isn't a gaming machine. HOWEVER...I believe for people looking to bring the experience from their Android smartphone to their TV...this will be a great item for them. Even then, this item seems pretty niche...as anyone with a video game console now a days will have most of what they could get from it and they have smartphones to do it on the go. I see this device aimed towards a completely different crowd then gamers.

While i agree with the above. One thing i think consoles lack is affordable download games. How often do you see even mini games for 99c on the nintendo/sony stores etc. I think it has the potential to be great, but it will have to come out with a big bang to gain some traction.

This is hackers heaven. The OUYA is your own customizable console. I think it's a good idea.

It will be interesting to see how everything pans out. I reckon we will see a heap of indie developers coming out of the wood work.

I believe for people looking to bring the experience from their Android smartphone to their TV...this will be a great item for them.

Problem is, they already have it on televisions. Smart TV's are out there and not to mention the smart phones today with hdmi out conversions like my Motorola Atrix phone I have now. Which has made a sort of small loss of some of there market from just those two types of products.

I will most likely skip this device as indie developers shine on the PC. Unless they can snag some kind of exclusive deal for some wonderful game I do not really see this product as a buy.

i understand the pc gaming comment but for people like me who do not always want to sit in a computer chair its perfect. i use to work on a computer 8-10 hours a day and i can tell you the last thing i wanted to do was sit infront of a pc to play games. hell all i see computers for now is typing work docs and sending emails.

Most dollar games are simple games that pass the time while I'm out an about. I feel dollar games on a home console just isn't a good idea. Although it looks like they have some support with larger game developers that can offer bigger games, although at a slightly higher price.

See, dollar games are like the dollar menu at McDonalds. Just one dollar won't fill you up, it just leaves you hungry for more and you have an empty feeling. But even when you buy more dollar menu items, you're still not full you just have a feeling of...indigestion.

You do know that all good video cards today have either an HDMI out or a mini port that has a converter cable to output into HDMI to connect to your television. (Some televisions have an DVI port even for just this). Then you just get a wireless mouse or keyboard and setup a wireless game controller is you wish (being as almost all the games today have gamepad support. If you so choose to use it). Tada, your gaming on the couch without the cords. Not to mention that Steam has made an even more friendly method of gaming on the couch.

I'm not bothered with all that stuff for pc when I already have ps3,360 and now wii u all hooked up to one TV. I have a pc that's more than capable of playing the latest games but to me a computer is a business machine and nothing more.
