I have a Wii U now, so I don't need my Wii.

I was thinking of selling or giving it away, except for one problem.. It stopped reading discs months ago. It was sudden. My brother tried to use it to play something and it would not read the disc, and that was it. Nothing works.

It's a rather old Wii. I got it in 07 or 08...

I was wondering if anyone had the same problem I did and found an easy quick solution?

If it's going to be a lot of trouble, then I probably won't bother.... but, if I can easily turn something useless into a gift/donation or quick buck, why not? :P

sell it on ebay as faulty.
Or do something else that's pretty much piracy.

You could always order a new disk drive on amazon with the nintendo triwing screw driver and replace the drive.

Its not hard to do and will only take 30 minutes or so. Its not even worth trading in at gamestop. They are only offering $20 on trade in value.

I say keep it.

I'd look up letterbomb. I believe there's a tutorial on hackmii. Then you'll be able to play totally legal homebrew and emulators.

I'm with you on this. Replace the drive and make someone happy by giving it to them as a gift. Sadly we live in an apathetic age of replacement where repairing things is a dying skill.

I am not so sure if talking about hacks on this site is exactly within the rules but....

Anyways I would just keep it if the repairs are too expensive. If the selling price is lower than the repair price then obviously sell ti.

If you do go the repair route there are tons of writeups and videos out there to show you.

Do you have one that you think is best for my specific problem?

If I do go with the repair option... this one looks very detailed and awesome. Thank you!

You could always just make a toaster out of it.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

Yeah I'm not quite sure either, especially since I'm not giving tips specifically about pirating. (Requires more work after homebrew setup) But I didn't link directly sooo. :P
