Hey guys.
So, these days, I can't seem to have the most popular games to show up on the WaraWara, only the pre-installed apps with pre-written or drawn NINTENDO message. See what I mean :


Why is it doing that? I want to see people saying thing and awesome drawings

Have you connected your Wii U to the internet?

I never had this issue. Like stated above... I would imagine if you weren't online..this is what you would see.

Yep, I took my Wii U to my friend's house and couldn't connect to their Wi-fi and the WaraWara plaza had system menu icons.

Connect it to the internet, join Miiverse and then reboot your system.

I am on the Internet. I post messages on Miiverse regularly. And...

I think it takes a day or two for those messages to come back to the plaza after being disconnected for an extended period of time. I could be completely wrong though.

Is the little icon on the gamepad with your Mii's face orange or blue? If it's blue, it should be fine, but if it's orange, that means it's got some sort of problem logging in to your NNID (I think). Try tapping said icon and re-logging into your account. If it's still orange, the only thing I can think to do would be to mess around with your internet settings or restart the system... Sorry, I'm not that big of a help. xD

I am new to the wii u but is there a way to change what icons appear on the wara wara plaza? I don't like some of the preinstalled images that show up like the zombie game icon advertising there...How can you change what shows up?

Hello all,

I started having this issue the past couple of days as well. Warawara plaza is all Nintendo Miis and icons, where before we saw who is playing what and so forth. I saw everyones topic and more and more people are having this issue. I decided to call Nintendo to report the issue and see what the deal is. I spoke with 2 reps that didnt even know what the hell was going on and i spoke with a supervisor who was baffled. He said his Wii U was doing the same thing and will investigate and call me back.

While i was waiting for his call back i decided to take matters into my own hands. This is a technical bug issue Nintendo has and may not be really aware about. It seems to be a common issue. There is a way to solve the issue until or if Nintedo fixes the issue with a patch or update.

1. Make sure to have an additional Mii not being used as a user or make a new Mii Character
2. Create a new user on your Wii U
3. Create a new Ninentdo Network ID.
4. After creating the new user go to your old or main profile and delete the user. You will be prompted to select delete USER AND NINTENDO ID or DELETE USER ONLY. Make sure to select DELETE USER ONLY (Not your Nintendo ID)

5. Create a new user by selecting the second option which says Link to existing Nintendo ID
6. Make sure to select all the information you used on your original Nintendo ID.
7. Once you created your NEW original user your menu and notification will be at default settings. Click on notification and when you come back to WaraWara Plaza the issue is fixed and resolved.

Dont worry your online features with your Nintendo ID will still be there including all your game saves, however on Nintendo Land you have to reactive MiiVerse setting and on Mario Bros U you will have to reactivate Spotpass.

After i did all this the supervisor at nintendo called back and said he created a new user and it worked. I explained to him what i did and he took the information and forwared to tech support.

I know this is a pain but its the only solution, unless Nintendo comes out with fix or update.

Did EXACTLY what you said but it didn't work...

Once you create a new user it should work. Usually when you create the new user it will show WaraWara Plaza still with the nintendo icons, try going to Miiverse or Notification and exit back out or restart your system and make sure your icon is bluw(online) it should refresh for you.

I did, but, like I said, it didn't work! It's still boring as f***.

@OP - I looked around on my Wii U and if it is not your internet then it is likely one of two things. As Miiverse seems to be controlled by two locations, being the settings within it or the parental controls. Inside of Miiverse the settings do not really seem like much would effect Wara Wara Plaza. Other than possibly region or games displayed (As in basically ratings). Whilst parental controls can block viewing posts or making them. I would pin it on the internet really as the settings for this are to bloody basic or none existent to my knowledge to really effect it in the way you're describing it. Plus the Wii U manual is not much of assistance either from what I have seen.

Alright, what I missed in the setup is that I needed to access Miiverse for the first time. Then, for the new Mii only, it worked. However, my main Mii didn't work. Unhappy I called Nintendo and left a feedback. Then, I decided to play NSMBU. When I finished the game (literally), I came back to the menu to discover that my profile was also back to normal o.O Oh well, things are sorted I guess...
