Hi Guys,

Inspired by the minigames that are clear, simple and fun of Nintendoland, I wanted to pick up an old hobby and try to build something from the ground up with people of 1 community. Since I like theWiiUcom I am now trying to see if there is enough animo.

I have seen some beautifull art here on these fotums, great handdrawn art, some very good Photoshoppers, musicians and 3d modelers.

I myself am now active as an Digital Media Design professional, I teach video and film at a university but do 3d modeling and animation as well.

In the past I have done a BanjoKazooie fanfilm and some videgameconcepts, yet halfway the fangameproject (i did programmung myself up to that point) I really needed a skilled programmer or at least gamemaker-expert. Yet I didnt find him/her and so that was the end of it.

This time around I'll start with a list of 'jobs'. Once the list is compleet we can then as a team decide on theme, scale and deadline.

- 3d modeler
- animator
- 2d artist
- soundexpert
- programmer
- projectmanager

I'll do at least the project management.

Here are some very old fanprojects to show that I mean business :)
It's a playlist with 19 projects, so pls enjoy: http://www.youtube.c...eature=view_all

Cool! Sounds excellent! Do you guys have anything to show, for me to see how expierenced you are. This way we can make better judgement on the complexity of the project.

So what are you trying to make here? A video game concept?

Nope, a videogame. We'll start with a concept though.

Hey, I'm an audio engineer and composer in training. I can totally work with the audio. I know how to make sound effects and I have taken composition lessons so I do know what I'm doing when I make music! lol I took an instrumental arranging course so I can totally make epic orchestrals too. :D I have experience with electronic and 8 bit music, so I can do that too. <:

You can check out my composition in the museum section. <: I usually don't spend more than a day composing, but I seriously need an excuse to spend more time with it. xD As for sound effects, I can also make a separate topic for my sound design works. :3

I have been searching everywhere for an opportunity to work with the audio for a video games so I'll be more than happy to participate and do the best of my abilities to make great music and great sound effects. :3

Depends on the kind of programming, the scope, and time frame

Timeframe will be between 6 months and 1 year. We will start out with a simple concept. If possible in gamemaker then I would opt for that because of its simplicity. But if you prefer another code language then those options are open.

This is a great idea. I could be the programmer.

Check! Graphics, I'll work on this too

If you all are still interested we can start. I want to ask the admin if we can use a closed part of the forums, so we wont bother the rest. I can make a shedule and we can start brainstorming. In the first two weeks I want to come up with a gameplayconcept, then we have to technically check if it works(proofofconcept). If so, we can then continue with the graphics, music, audio and story. We then complete 1 level in this style and see if it works. If needed we can share that level with theWiiU community.

If you're all in I start with a concrete agenda. Boys and girls, please reply.
Just interested, what kind of softwaretools would you all like to use?

I use Cinema4DStudio, Photoshop, Illustator and Aftereffects.

No not really. You check my link for references. I am thinking about a tower defence esque game. The theme could be MarioKart. As Bowser we should have to stop mario from reaching the finish. There are standard three waves (laps). In the beginning we should have to stop some easy drivers (50cc cup). We could place all kind of obstacles. Piranha plants, dogbombs, goombas, jumps, bananas etc.

Its just a concept I thought of, dont know if the programmers are up to it. We can thumb things up and down to fit our expiernce. Sound shoul be okay and graphics we can create ourselves too. Question: are to programmers able to create a tower defence esque game?

It might be easier if we create the game in 2D instead of 3D. We can get sprites from various websites and just animate them...

Possible yes. We can even opt for sudewsy or topdown, isometric view. All options are open right now.

I use C++ or Java for programming. It really depends on if it's 2D or 3D.

Well if we are going to do this as if it was like Nintendoland, I am going to have to do the obligatory remix of a classic Mario Kart tune *coughrainbowroadfromN64cough*. This will also involve me ripping sounds from Mario Kart games. Seeing that this will be 2D, I will have to choose carefully what game I plan to rip the sound effects from and then tweak it on my sampler. This should be fun. Well, do let us know ahead of time if we are going to have a meeting. <: It would be nice if we all can gather and officially start the planning phase!
