I know the graphics is not important but just look at how the Wii is doing right now. Is there going to be the same thing with the Wii when the next ps4/720 comes out? Is there going to be a big gap when comparing the Wii U graphics with the ps4/720? This really worries me because if Sony or Microsoft are capable of making a console thats is way more powerful than the Wii u in terms of power, then I see the Wii U's future just like the Wii's future right now. What do you think? Will the Wii u become what the Wii is now or will it be not much as a difference like when comparing the 360 with the ps3?

Let me ease your pain the CEO of Sony has already said that there will not be a big jump between the PS3 and the next Playstation console. XBox hasn't tipped their hand one way or another. The reason for the big jump was due to the change from standard definition to high definition. Another jump like that won't happen for another 40 to 60 years. That is how long it took to change from standard definition to high definition. Companies have no decision on the next jump as governments make that decision.

Sony has already said that it would be hard to make a system that is significantly more powerful than what the PS3 offers now, and that they would be focusing more on expanding the gamer population, so I'm not to worried about them. And looking at what Microsoft is doing with Kinect, they'll probably be doing the same. I think the next generation systems will be more like PS2 vs GameCube vs XBOX instead of Wii vs 360 vs PS3.

Like every one else said next gen will not be such a big leap in graphics as compared to this gen.

"How does the Wii U graphics compare to future consoles?"

I don't know. I haven't seen future console graphics yet.

If you're worried about a masssive graphical leap, don't be. I don't think we will evolve from HD for quite some time, and the Wii U is already been confirmed to have better images than PS360 (Gearbox talking about Aliens: Colonial Marines.)

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

The poll needs more options. Of course the PS4 and Xbox 3 will have better graphics-any knowledgeable gamer should know that-but it won't be the same situation as it was with the Wii. Is anyone realy that thick that they think systems launched 2+ years after the Wii U won't beat it in terms of power? I mean come on.

I think that the next consoles from Sony and Microsoft will have better graphics than the Wii U. However, I don't think they'll be a huge step up, so while they will probably offer better graphics, there won't be enough of a difference for them to make the Wii U's graphics look bad as the Xbox 360/PS3 did with the Wii.

At least the Wii U is closing the gap compared to the original Wii and 360/PS3. So at least Nintendo are moving in the right direction.

both the poll answers are negative since if the wiiu is the wii of next generation it would have the graphics of the ps3 and 360 its the same thing for both answers.

We know that both answers say that the WiiU will be overpowered, but one answer says the WiiU will be significantly over powered (see "Wii vs 360"), and the other says it will only be a slight and unnoticeable difference (see "360 vs PS3").

oh I missread the last answer I wish i could change my answer to the last one I though it said it was only the same power as the 360 and ps3 that why I choose the wii one since it was slightly more powerful than the last gen.

Ya, there really need to be more answer options in this poll. The jump will almost certainly be more noticeable than the indiscernible difference between 360/PS3 (which I defy anyone to truly demonstrate via video sample with commentary on specific visual features), but it will not be NEARLY as big as the truly embarrassing gap between Wii and PS3/360.

So as not to be a hypocrite, here is a video from IGN detailing some of the exact differences that I think will exist between the WiiU and its future competition. The video outlines the differences between Crysis 2 running in DirectX9 (WiiU will be able to push 10.1, so it will be capable of doing slightly more than 9, but none of the advanced tesselation or real-time reflection mapping) and DirectX11. It seems likely that Sony, at least, will wait until they can produce hardware that will run DX11 (though even this would be prohibitively expensive if attempted right now... the commentators referenced major framerate issues at points, and this was a top-of-the-line gaming rig). Still, say what you will about Sony, they spring for the best stuff out there. The PSVita is a good example of that, and evidence against the people who keep saying that Sony has "learned their lesson" with the PS3 and its lack of profitability. And please, for the love of God, don't throw that one quotation from the windbag Sony rep at me... let's look at concrete decisions the company has and is making, not off-hand comments.

Now, I say this looks pretty good for the WiiU. I'm no Sony fan (in fact, most days I think I would open a bottle of old bubbly if the company went under)... but I think they will make a top-of-the-line machine with their next console, and I still say that, even this being the case, the jump is not that big of a deal. Do I like real-time reflection mapping and advanced particle tracking with motion blur effects? Sure... but I can wait six or seven years for them to find the hardware to run them cheaply and efficiently without losing any sleep at all (and my wallet will thank me).

The Xbox 720 and PS4 will probably have better graphics than the Wii U. The graphic capabilities will all probably be very similar. The Xbox 720 and PS4 may have better graphics, but how will those consoles stand up to the Wii U?
