It was just a matter of time before this happened. Online retailers sell DVDs/Blu Rays cheaper and digital download/illegal downloading overtook CD sales years ago.

HMV sucks in Canada, so I guess it sucks in other parts of the world.

Their pricing for games was nuts so I'm hardly surprised. Bought Darksiders 2 for mate for £23, he had it a few days but the framerate was doing his head in so he took it to HMV to swap it in and they gave him £33

HMV hear in aus was always crap. It was pretty much just a CD/dvd shop. Never really had many games available.

They're the only real competition with gamestop here in Ireland.
They are always cheaper than gamestop, even if they're next door to them.

Not in my area though.

.http://www.bbc.co.uk...siness-21092853 not the only link I have read either seems some venture capital firms looking at hmv as well or should they be vulture capitalists?

It looks like restructuring specialist Hilco who already owns HMV Canada has assumed all of HMV's debt and may well end up owning them now.
