I dont know when if or how nintendo will adress this. But its likely too late for your current machine. They will need to replace it.
I can tell you, though, that the open source WILL find a solution to this, and they will do it better and faster than nintendo.
They always do.

I don't think you can mod the Wii Mode for Wii U.You have homebrew or something installed in the wii mode?
Nintendo Network ID: Awesomesocks | Nintendo 3DS Friend Code: 1032-1712-2862
PM me if you add me on any of the above.

I haven't done it myself, but they made a video about it on youtube (they used the homebrew channel)

Well make sure your video sends people to the latest version that has been made for wii u's wii mode. Not the last version out for wii.

oh lol, so you were.
Honestly, im a little wary of homebrewing my wii u without bootmii making it unbrickable. Wii's firmware was highly volatile garbage, with its worse most crash prone files replaced by much more stable code with bootmii installed.
With bootmii locked out of the most recent firmware updates, of wii and wii u, you are left at the mercy of nintendos unstable wii firmware.
Which im sure youve unfortunately had first hand experience at just how unstable it can be. Even without modding it.
