Hi, I don't have a decent HD Monitor yet on my computer, but I was just wondering if I could connect the Wii-U to my video card that has an HDMI port and then export it somehow to my LCD Screen. Is it possible? Thanks!

I think you need some kind of a video capture card for doing that..

Your graphics card has an HDMI out port, just like the Wii U console does.
Try plugging a plug socket into another plug socket.

No, it won't work.

So it'd be best that I buy an HD LCD Monitor with an HDMI Port?

Yeah, but hdmi isn't best for PC displays.

Yes you can hook it up to a computer monitor AS LONG AS it has an HDMI connector. All full HDMI monitor as one. For appropriateness, you can look into getting a monitor with two HDMI ports. Otherwise, there's always HDMI switches than can both hook up your PC and WiiU. Alternatively, if you don't want to buy an HDMI switch, you can hook up the console through HDMI and the PC via DVI. If it's a laptop with HDMI, it doesn't work because that HDMI port is OUTPUT only like PCs graphic cards. Standalone monitors's HDMI port (ie. not laptop monitors) is INPUT only. That is why it works because monitors WAIT for a signal while the laptop and graphic card HDMI ports SEND a signal.

For the audio not working, it's partially not true. It's not true if your monitor have built-in speakers. Then, it works wonders (like mine, Asus VW246H). If there's not, then it's true of course because there's no where to send the sound

Colors are really flat and dull on hd monitors if it's not using DVI. I play on a monitor through HDMI and it looks nowhere near as good as when I play on my HDTV.

connecting to a monitor will give fantastic results, please ignor the users that say otherwise, its just you have to set it up right in the monitors settings, buy a monitor with a hdmi port and connect that to ur wii u, then follow these instructions

I tried this with my 1080p computer monitor, and it didn't work. The Wii U said there was no TV and my monitor wouldn't display the Wii U.

You can use that to hook the Wii U to the monitor. As someone mentioned the other day but i dont see their post now, the graphics card ports are for Video "out". DVI, HDMI, Dual DVI's S-Video, they are all outputs on most graphics cards and wont work the way you are asking. Go with the link you provided, i did that for a while for my pc monitor when i wanted to play my Wii U in solitude and worked perfectly fine :)

*Side note, when you convert HDMI to DVI your going to lose the sound as DVI carries the video signal only. There-for you will have to use the headphone jack on the gamepad to some headphones or to some external speaks to get all the sound.
