I hope this movie does well but I could imagine the outrage on this decision by other people tho.

It's still a rumor. Not official yet, but if it is then It's a great choice. Can't wait to get more details on episode VII and Zack Snyder's Star Wars flick.

I COMPLETELY welcome J.J. Abrams on this. He is ripe for the job. Star Trek was amazing. He will do the same with Star Wars. You can't possibly compare J.J. with Michael Bay. Not at ALL. Transformers movies were horrible. MB is like....a wealthier version of Uwe Boll.

It doesn't seem all that likely to me, seeing that he's working on Star Trek 2 darkness, or whatever it's called.

that movie is opening this summer. He hasnt much more to direct. It's mostly editing at this stage. So his work with Star Trek: Into Darkness is closing off. It's more than possible.

Is this the chick that writes Harry Potter?

I was told that Abrams refused it saying he'd prefer to watch it than work on it.
